Although Snape was intimidating on the outside, he was good at his core. Snape took out Dumbledore to earn the trust of Lord Voldemort, and following Dumbledore's end, Snape devoted his life to protecting the students of Hogwarts.
During the Square off against of Hogwarts, Lord Voldemort had his snake/horcrux/best friend Nagini eliminate Snape because he suspected he was the true holder of the Elder Wand. In his final moments, Snape revealed to Harry how much he loved his mother.
(#23) Bathilda Bagshot

Bathilda Bagshot was the author of A History of Magic, a book which was a part of the Hogwarts curriculum. She was respected by everyone at the school, including the students.
She was felled by Dark Magic at her home and her body was reanimated to take the form of Voldemort's snake, Nagini. Voldemort left her body as a trap for Harry, who eventually went to visit her with Hermione.
(#18) Rufus Scrimgeour
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part I, Harry Potter
Rufus Scrimgeour started his career as an Auror at the Ministry of Magic. He was eventually promoted to Minister of Magic, but Death Eaters infiltrated the ministry and staged a coup to overthrow him. He was captured and interrogated by Lord Voldemort for the whereabouts of Harry Potter. Scrimgeour remained loyal to Harry and didn't give up his location.

(#19) Barty Crouch Sr.

Bartemius Crouch Sr. was a big part of the Ministry of Magic. He was supposed to be the next Minister of Magic, however, he was made the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement instead.
His son, Barty Crouch Jr., despised him because he believed his father never loved him. The younger Crouch was a Death Eater and cast the Imperius Curse on his father, which gave him total control over him. But Crouch Sr. eventually broke free of the curse and fled to inform Dumbledore of Lord Voldemort's plan to return to power. Crouch Jr. intercepted him and took him out. Crouch Jr. turned his father into a bone and buried him in Hagrid's garden.
(#2) Dobby the House Elf

Dobby was an elf who served the Malfoy family. Despite his obligations to the family and the Dark Wizards, Dobby warned Harry about the plan to reopen the Chamber of Secrets. Harry eventually tricked the Malfoys into freeing Dobby.
While helping Harry and his friends to safety, Dobby was critically wounded by a knife thrown by Bellatrix Lestrange. He passed in Harry's arms, saying his final words: "Harry Potter."
(#12) Colin Creevey

The adorably loyal Colin Creevey always looked up to Harry. He was a famous wizard, after all!
During the Battle of Hogwarts, Creevey snuck into the Room of Requirement and was overpowered by Death Eaters. His passing affected Harry deeply because Colin had idolized him.
