  • (#4) A Boa Constrictor Almost Ate Off This Ohio Woman's Face

An unidentified Ohio woman had a strange hobby of rescuing boa constrictors. Where or how she was rescuing boa constrictors in Ohio is confusing enough; the 911 call she made after a newly rescued boa constrictor wrapped itself around her head is even more mind-boggling. You can listen to the July 2017 call above, in which you can hear the dispatcher saying, "I've never heard of this before."

A firefighter responded to the call and saw the woman on the driveway. Fortunately, he was able to get the snake off of her face... by cutting off its head.

  • A Florida Couple Was Charged With Murder After Their Python Killed Their Two-Year-Old Daughter on Random Horrific Stories Of Snakes Who Killed (Or Nearly Killed) People

(#2) A Florida Couple Was Charged With Murder After Their Python Killed Their Two-Year-Old Daughter

In July 2011, A Florida couple - Jaren Hare (21) and Charles Darnell (34) - found out the hard way that a duvet cover, bungee cords, and safety pins do not adequately confine a Burmese python to its tank. The snake, which had repeatedly escaped, was found wrapped around the couple's two-year-old daughter while it was biting her face. The girl was already dead by the time she was found.

Law enforcement officials called it more than an accident; since the snake had escaped so many times, and its cage was not sufficient, the couple was charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter of a child. Hare and Darnell were sentenced to twelve years in prison.

To top it off, the unemployed couple apparently didn't feed the snake either - a starving snake is not a happy snake. It was only 13 pounds at the time it killed the young girl; a Burmese python should weigh about 150 pounds.

  • This Man Had 15 Snakes, But It Only Took One Of Them To Kill Him on Random Horrific Stories Of Snakes Who Killed (Or Nearly Killed) People

(#8) This Man Had 15 Snakes, But It Only Took One Of Them To Kill Him

Patrick von Allman, a 23-year-old from Southern Indiana, owned 15 snakes. In September 2006, his 14-foot, 100-lb python killed him. The Reticulated python wrapped itself around von Allman's shoulders and neck, effectively crushing him to death. Von Allman had gone to the shed to give the python treatment for "mouth rot," an inflammation of the mouth. Three hours later, his family discovered him dead.

  • A Wildlife Expert Was Almost Killed Doing Her Job on Random Horrific Stories Of Snakes Who Killed (Or Nearly Killed) People

(#12) A Wildlife Expert Was Almost Killed Doing Her Job

Debi Grudzinski, a wildlife rehabilitator, was attacked on the job in July 2011 by a boa constrictor. She had cared for the boa for eight years, and the snake started wrapping itself around her arm when she was watering it. Luckily, the woman's daughter called 911, and both the rehabilitator and the snake lived. However, she's done caring for snakes - one close call was enough.

  • This Professional Snake Handler Was Killed By His 25-Foot-Long Python on Random Horrific Stories Of Snakes Who Killed (Or Nearly Killed) People

(#7) This Professional Snake Handler Was Killed By His 25-Foot-Long Python

In September 2017, Dan Brandon, an experienced snake handler, was found dead next to his pet python, Monty. Medical officials were able to determine that Brandon died of asphyxia; it is believed the 25-foot python wrapped itself around Brandon and crushed him to death.

Authorities have not closed this case, although given the way Brandon died and the horrifyingly large snake next to his dead body, it is safe to assume his python had something to do with his death.

  • (#11) A Florida Teen Decided Kissing A Poisonous Snake Was A Good Idea

In April 2015, Austin Hatfield, an 18-year-old Floridian, decided to keep a venomous cottonmouth snake - a decision that ultimately backfired on him, as the snake bit him in the face when he went to kiss it.

Though Hatfield recovered, it seemed he was playing with fire - he had kept the snake in a pillowcase for days, and supposedly kissed snakes to entertain his friends. Maybe Hatfield should learn a few card tricks instead.
