  • Obi-Wan Kenobi on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#1) Obi-Wan Kenobi

    • Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars

"You can't win, Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can possibly imagine."

Obi-Wan Kenobi has the most important death scene in all of Star Wars film history, as his death is the catalyst that truly lights a fire in Luke, and sets him on the path to rebuild the Jedi Order and defeat the Empire.

When he confronted his former pupil, Darth Vader stood against him and uttered some truly great dialogue. Of course, it was Obi-Wan who warned his former friend that killing him would only make him stronger, and that's precisely what happened. He discharged his lightsaber and allowed Vader to slash through his body, resulting in his becoming one with the Force.

  • Yoda on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#2) Yoda

    • Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars

"Luke... Luke, do not... do not underestimate the powers of the Emperor, or suffer your father's fate, you will. Luke, when gone am I, the last of the Jedi, will you be. The Force runs strong in your family. Pass on what you have learned. Luke... there... is... another... Sky... Sky... walker..."

Yoda took over Luke's training as a Jedi in The Empire Strikes Back, but before he could finish, Luke ran off to save his friends. He returned to his master but found him in a severely weakened state. Yoda's 900 years had caught up with him, and he was dying.

As he tended to his Master, Yoda imparted his last bit of wisdom to his apprentice. He was to "pass on" what he learned, but he shouldn't underestimate the power of the Dark Side or that of his father. His life came to an end with the revelation that there was another Skywalker, a sister, who grew up far from her twin brother on Alderaan.

  • Darth Vader on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#3) Darth Vader

    • Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, The Making of Star Wars, Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, The Benchwarmers, Once Upon a Jedi, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Young Wonder, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars Holiday Special, Star Wars

"You already have, Luke. You were right. You were right about me. Tell your sister... you were right."

Darth Vader was the epitome of evil throughout the original Star Wars trilogy, but as much as those movies were about Luke Skywalker ascending to become a Jedi, they were also about the path of redemption that turned Darth Vader back into the man he was.

After turning on his Master, Vader took in a ton of Force Lightning power. This left him dying on the ground, so Luke removed his helmet, and his father told him to tell his sister that he was right about him. Someone who turned to the Dark Side of the Force could be redeemed, and in the end, Luke saved Anakin in ways greater than Vader's move to save his son. Vader may have saved Luke from death, but it was Luke who saved his father's soul.

  • Admiral Ackbar on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#4) Admiral Ackbar

    • Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, Star Wars

"Torpedoes inbound! It's been an honor serving with you all."

Throughout all of time and space, Admiral Ackbar will be remembered for uttering only three words, "It's a trap!" That line was his in Return of the Jedi, and many a meme were born that day. Of course, he didn't die in that film, having met his end two movies later in The Last Jedi.

Ackbar was on the bridge with his fellow officers as Kylo Ren, and his Tie Fighter escorts attacked the command ship. Ren hesitated to fire into the bridge, which would have killed his mother, but a torpedo still managed to do the job. Leia survived, but Ackbar didn't, though he didn't hold off on delivering a truly honorable final line, which was a testament to his brilliant leadership qualities.

  • Qui-Gon Jinn on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#5) Qui-Gon Jinn

    • Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars

"He... is the chosen one. He... will bring balance... train him."

The death of Qui-Gon Jinn came as a surprise just as fans were beginning to like the Jedi. He appeared to be the main character of The Phantom Menace, but he never made it past that first movie in the prequel trilogy. After fighting Darth Maul throughout the lower levels of the Palace on Naboo, he lost a lightsaber duel and took a blade straight through the chest.

He held on for a few minutes -- long enough for his apprentice to bisect the man who killed him. Obi-Wan holds his master in his arms, and he utters the above line as he succumbed to his wound. His words pushed Obi-Wan to train Anakin in the ways of the Force, with the hope of bringing about the prophecy of the Chosen One, who would bring balance to the Force.

  • Luke Skywalker on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#6) Luke Skywalker

    • Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Holiday Special, Return of the Ewok, Star Wars

    "See you around, kid."

Technically, like some of the other Jedi in the Star Wars universe, Luke Skywalker continued to have dialogue after his death. It's what being a Force Ghost is all about, but that doesn't mean he didn't have a great last line before shuffling off this mortal coil for immortality as a translucent mentor and guide to the Jedi who followed him.

After showing up on Crait looking a bit more youthful than he had previously, Luke stands up against his former student and nephew which allows the rest of the Resistance to escape. He manifested a Force Projection of himself halfway across the galaxy, and the act killed him. After Kylo delivers the killing blow and realizes he's fighting someone who isn't there. Luke's face says it all as he disappears and says the line, "See you around, kid."

  • Jyn Erso on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#7) Jyn Erso

    • Rogue One

    "I do. Someone's out there."

Jyn Erso was the hero of Rogue One, but like so many heroes, she died at the end of the film. Of course, she didn't pass on without first passing the plans for the Death Star to a Rebel ship in orbit. It wasn't easy, and she had to go up against the Empire in a way that few non-Force sensitive folks could manage, but she did it.

She utters her final line in response to Cassian, who asked if she thought anyone was out there listening to them. The two then embrace as an explosion kills everyone on the surface, leaving Jyn Erso and her companions martyrs who were instrumental in the destruction of the Death Star.

  • Padmé Amidala on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#8) Padmé Amidala

    • Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars

"Obi-Wan... there... is good in him. I know there is... still---"

Padmé Amidala is all about tragedy, and it was Anakin's love for her that led him to break from the Jedi and embrace the Dark Side of the Force. It was all an effort to save her after he became plagued with visions of her death. Ultimately, it turned out to be a self-fulfilling prophecy, as it was Anakin's actions that led to Padmé dying.

She died shortly after giving birth to her twins, Luke and Leia, but before she closed her eyes for the last time, she uttered the above line. It was a plea to Obi-Wan to recognize that there was still good in Anakin, but sadly, he had become Darth Vader at this point, and it would take the convictions of his son to ultimately prove Padmé right about her beloved.

  • Mace Windu on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#9) Mace Windu

    • Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Ewoks: The Battle for Endor, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars

"He has control of the Senate and the Courts! He's too dangerous to be left alive!"

When Mace Windu died, it wasn't a result of his ineptitude with a lightsaber; it was because he was turned on by an ally he never suspected to become an enemy. After the rest of the Jedi High Council are quickly dispatched by Palpatine, Mace Windu manages to get him on the ground in a weak and defensive position.

When Anakin comes into the room, he pleads with the Jedi Master to let him live and face justice, but Windu utters the above line, suggesting there was no way he could let the man continue to live. He should have just killed him, because Anakin suddenly sides with Palpatine, and chops off Windu's hand. This leaves Windu as easy pickings for the Emperor who threw the Jedi from his window using Force Lightning.

  • Count Dooku on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#10) Count Dooku

    • Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars

"I sense great fear in you, Skywalker. You have hate. You have anger. But you don't use them."

Count Dooku was the man who was hand-picked by Darth Sidious to bring about the war between the Commonwealth of Independent Systems and the Galactic Republic. He was his apprentice, and it's likely Dooku didn't imagine he might be replaced, but that's exactly what happened when Anakin bested him in combat and had him on his knees with two lightsabers surrounding his neck mere moments after he uttered the above line.

You can clearly see the surprise on Dooku's face when Palpatine tells Anakin to kill him, but that's exactly what he does. Anikan beheads him easily with the two lightsabers, which helped to push him closer to the Dark Side of the Force.

  • Han Solo on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#11) Han Solo

    • Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Star Wars Holiday Special, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars

    "Yes, anything."

Han Solo made a final appeal to his son, Ben, shortly before dying. He probably didn't see his end coming, seeing as he was talking to his son, but he knew the risks. Ben had fallen to the Dark Side of the Force and had taken the name Kylo Ren, which came with a helmet and a high rank in the First Order.

The two men spoke with one another, and when his son asks, "Will you help me?," Solo says, "Yes, anything," and those words ended up being his last, as he was immediately impaled with his son's lightsaber. As he began to succumb to the wound, he tenderly held his son's face, and then fell into an abyss.

  • Grand Moff Tarkin on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#12) Grand Moff Tarkin

    • Star Wars XXX: A Porn Parody

    "You may fire when ready."

Grand Moff Tarkin was the man behind the development of the Death Star, and in the first Star Wars film, he already showed he was more than willing to use it by blowing up Alderaan. As the third act came to a close, the Death Star was set to destroy the Rebel base, but at the same time, the Rebels were attempting to destroy it.

Now, the Death Star was massive, so it's unlikely that he would have been affected by everything going on up on the surface, but that hardly mattered. He knew about the attack and left it to Vader to handle. He died without any indication that he was in any danger, and his last words nearly destroyed the Rebellion, but he was a moment too late, thanks to the Force and one Luke Skywalker.

  • General Grievous on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#13) General Grievous

    • Star Wars

"Army or not, you must realize... you are doomed!"

General Grevious was certainly full of himself when he engaged in combat with Obi-Wan Kenobi. After all, he had killed several Jedi, which is how he got his hands on four lightsabers, but he wasn't up against an apprentice, he was facing one of the most powerful Force-users in the galaxy.

Still, he showed his confidence by decrying Obi-Wan's doom with the above line. It didn't keep the Jedi from proving him wrong, by destroying the only organic bits the General still possessed. This left him dead on the floor, and Obi-Wan remarked how he really didn't like the brutality of blasters, despite using one to end the General only moments before.

  • Snoke on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#14) Snoke

"You think you can turn him? Pathetic child... I cannot be betrayed... I cannot be beaten. I see his mind… I see his every intent. Yes... I see him turning the lightsaber to strike true! And now... foolish child... he ignites it... and KILLS HIS TRUE ENEMY!"

The first two movies in the extended trilogy didn't go into much detail about Supreme Leader Snoke, but what was known was that he led the First Order, he was immensely powerful with the Dark Side of the Force, and he turned Ben Solo to become his underling, Kylo Ren.

When he finally dies, he does so at the hands of his apprentice, but in such a way that he failed to see it coming. He essentially narrates his own death while he waits for Ren to kill Rey, what he's really doing is using the lightsaber next to Snoke to kill his true enemy, only Snoke didn't realize that was him.

  • Sidious on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#15) Sidious

    • Padmé

"You are nothing! A scavenger girl is no match for the power in me! I AM ALL THE SITH!"

Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine, or whatever you want to call him, has died twice in Star Wars canon. His last line in Return of the Jedi was nowhere near as memorable as his second chance in The Rise of Skywalker.

After taunting Rey, and seemingly killing Ben, he belittles his enemy by proclaiming, "I am all the Sith!" Little did he realize that Rey stood in opposition as all of the Jedi, which is exactly what she says to him as she finally destroys the man who had been terrorizing the galaxy for the better part of a century.

  • Greedo on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#16) Greedo

    • Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Star Wars

"That's the idea. I've been looking forward to this for a long time."

There's a lot of controversy surrounding Greedo, and the character was barely in Star Wars for more than a few minutes. All of the controversy surrounds George Lucas' messing with the original footage to make it appears as if Han shot only after Greedo did, but that's a discussion for another article.

Greedo was so confident in his apprehension of Solo, he didn't notice that he was freeing his blaster while distracting him with bravado and his other hand. Han mentions that Greedo was more than happy to get a hold of him, to which Greedo intonates he's going to kill him right there and then. Han replies with, "Yes, I'll bet you have," and then he SHOT FIRST!!!

  • Captain Raymus Antilles on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#17) Captain Raymus Antilles

"We intercepted no transmissions. This is a consular ship. We're on a diplomatic mission."

If there's one thing you can say about the poor, departed Captain Ramus Antilles, it's that he had some serious cajones. The man lied right to Darth Vader's face, and he earned something the Dark Lord of the Sith almost never did: physical contact. Vader is well-known for choking the life out of people, but he never grabs them and holds them up by one hand, but that's exactly what he did with Captain Antilles.

Now, this scene always seemed like a great way to establish Vader's power, but now that Rogue One has shown just how Antilles piloted the Tantavie IV with the Death Star plans away from Vader, it's clear he was full of it. He had just barely escaped from Vader only moments before, and here he is trying to convince him that it's a consular ship on a diplomatic mission. Vader wasn't buying any of that!

  • Captain Needa on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#18) Captain Needa

"Get a shuttle ready. I shall accept full responsibility for losing them and apologize to Lord Vader. Meanwhile, continue to scan the area."

Captain Needa wasn't a huge role in The Empire Strikes Back, but it was perfectly punctuated with his final words. Almost immediately after losing the Millennium Falcon, he lets his fellow officers know that he would take full responsibility and do so personally in front of Darth Vader.

You could see the anxiety the men felt for their commanding officer since few could apologize to Vader and not get the life Force Choked out of them. That's what happened to Needa, who died hearing the words, "Apology accepted, Captain Needa" from none other than the Dark Lord of the Sith himself.

  • Captain Phasma on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#19) Captain Phasma

    • Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Star Wars: The Force Awakens

    "You were always scum."

Captain Phasma was a perfect Stormtrooper commander for the First Order. She was ruthless, vindictive, and deadly. She took personal offense to the rebellion of FN-2187, a Trooper under her command, so when she had the opportunity to put him to death, she approached the situation with unrestrained excitement.

Right before she can see her failure beheaded, Admiral Holdo destroys most of the First Order's armada and leaves Phasma to fight against Finn in face-to-face combat. As she looks to get the upper hand, Finn proves her wrong, and they face off for just a moment more, when Phasma says to Finn, "You were always scum." He quickly corrected her by saying, "Rebel scum," and with that, she fell to her death.

  • General Armitage Hux on Random Most Unforgettable Last Words Of 'Star Wars' Characters

    (#20) General Armitage Hux

"It was a coordinated incursion, Allegiant General. They overpowered the guards and forced me to take them to their ship."

The line was uttered in desperation by General Hux shortly after he provided aid to the Resistance, which he did out of his hatred for Kylo Ren. This hatred began two movies earlier, and despite being in a high level of command in the First Order, he found himself working as an underling to an angry Force-user.

Hux attempted to convince Allegiant General Pryde that he was merely the victim of "a coordinated incursion," but the General wasn't buying any of it. Without much preamble or thought, he quickly blasted Hux, executing him on the spot for treason.
