  • Corde on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#1) Corde

Early on in Attack of the Clones, there's an assassination attempt on the life of Padme Amidala, the former queen and current senator of Naboo. Moments later, the film reassures fans that it wasn't really Padme that perished. It was just Corde, her body double!

Corde is a hero for putting herself on the line for Amidala. Standing in for a woman so an assassination attempt will hit you instead of her is a pretty terrible job, and Corde doesn't get the recognition she deserves. If something had happened to Padme instead of Corde, we never would have gotten the galaxy's most beloved twins.

  • Galen Erso on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#2) Galen Erso

The Death Star is a beautiful behemoth of destruction, one of the great superweapons in a galaxy of science fiction. With that said, fans have made fun of the Death Star over the years for being nerfed by one well-fired proton torpedo.

It wasn't until Rogue One that audiences learned that the weakness wasn't a bug, but a feature - implanted by scientist Galen Erso. Erso initially worked for the Empire because he believed the project's goal was to create an unlimited energy source that could provide aid to the galaxy. Once he found out he was working on a superweapon, he took his family and fled.

Eventually, the Imperial forces came for him. Instead of serving out the remainder of his life dutifully working for the Empire, he sabotaged their most powerful weapon, leading the Rebellion to their first great victory. Sadly, the galaxy never recognized Galen Erso for this heroic deed.

  • Nien Nunb on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#3) Nien Nunb

    • Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

Nien Nunb's name might make him seem like a joke, but put him at the helm of a starship and he'll prove his worth.

Han Solo and Chewbacca flew the Millennium Falcon into battle during the attack on the first Death Star, and they went down in the hall of fame for it. Nien Nunb did the same thing during the fight against the second Death Star, and he got no credit! And, unlike Han, Nien Nunb didn't show up halfway through the battle to gain brownie points with a space princess - he was there because he's a small alien with a big heart.

  • Paige Tico on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#4) Paige Tico

Paige Tico is a key member of Captain Poe's strike against the First Order at the beginning of The Last Jedi. She pilots one of the bomber ships meant to take out the First Order Dreadnought. Sadly, the First Order makes quick work of the rest of the ships, leaving her as the only bomber with an intact payload.

As she reaches the bombing zone, she realizes her payload won't drop. She spends her final moments in a tense situation, setting off her ship's payload and ultimately sacrificing her life. While Rose remembers her for her bravery, the mission is ultimately deemed something of an insubordination, and Paige is never properly rewarded posthumously for her final victory.

  • Owen Lars on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#5) Owen Lars

    • Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars

If knowledge of Luke Skywalker's existence got out into the wrong hands, the scariest and most powerful people in the galaxy would show up on the Lars's doorstep to forcibly take him. With that in mind, Owen and Beru still readily agreed to adopt him. Raising a kid is hard under any circumstances, let alone when that kid is the spawn of the Dark Lord of the Sith.

Owen and Beru were simply good people. Sure, Owen wanted Luke to stay and help with the farm a little longer than Luke wanted to, but that's just part of being a good dad! Sometimes you have to put your foot down. A growing boy can't spend all his time picking out power converters at his favorite spaceports.

Ultimately, Owen and Beru lost their lives as casualties of the galactic civil war. Surprisingly, it wasn't for their involvement with Luke, but instead for unknowingly harboring R2-D2 and C-3PO. They were just decent folks caught up in a galactic conflict, never once questioning their decisions to do what's right.

  • Kit Fisto on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#6) Kit Fisto

    • Star Wars

Kit Fisto's legacy grew outside of the big screen, much like Boba Fett's did before him. While film audiences only saw him during the attack on Genosha, and for the early part of the attempted arrest of the chancellor, there's something about Kit Fisto that endeared him to a cult following amongst fans.

He received a bit more screen time in The Clone Wars and was featured prominently in an episode where General Grievous axed his former apprentice. But, like the other Jedi Masters in the room, he'll never get his credit for bravely attempting to arrest the most powerful Sith in the galaxy. If that had gone differently, the entire Empire would have been stopped before it started.

  • Bail Organa on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#7) Bail Organa

    • Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, Star Wars

It's not that Bail Organa doesn't get any credit, it's just that he doesn't get enough.

At the end of Revenge of the Sith, all but three people in the galaxy have seemingly lost hope: Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Bail Organa. These three people quickly enact a plan that would give the future heroes of the galaxy a fighting chance against the tyranny of the Empire.

Bail Organa not only agrees to take Leia in, but he also raises her in such a way that she is able to take on the entire Empire through sheer force of will. It's clear he did something right.

But, unlike Yoda and Obi-Wan, you probably won't find him on a T-shirt at Hot Topic, or as a playable character in Battlefront. Even inside of the universe, Leia never mentions him by name, so his sacrifices and deeds seemed to have faded from the public consciousness.

  • Biggs Darklighter on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#8) Biggs Darklighter

You might think that if you grew up with a galactic hero and then saved his life from the Sith, you'd be remembered. You'd be absolutely wrong. Biggs Darklighter is a man fitting that description, and unless you've completed multiple re-watches of A New Hope, you might not even know his name. You might know him as "that guy with the mustache," but even then, probably not.

There's a deleted scene giving Biggs some more screen time, in which he tells Luke he's going to be leaving the Imperial academy to join the Rebellion, but even if that scene had been kept in, he would still deserve more recognition.

  • Boolio on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#9) Boolio

"How do we thank you," Finn asks Boolio in The Rise of Skywalker.

    "Win the war," he replies.

Boolio was instrumental in delivering crucial intel from a spy inside of the First Order directly to the main heroes of our film, and he shouldn't be forgotten. Of course, he's fairly easy to forget because he's barely in the movie

Boolio is a selfless alien working to rid the world of the First Order. It may seem like an "of course" that you'd rise up to fight Kylo Ren, Palpatine, and their evil army, but in all cases, it's easier to do nothing. Boolio wasn't someone content with just doing nothing, and he should be honored for the work he did that led the Resistance to stand a fighting chance against Palpatine's forces.

  • Arvel Crynyd on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#10) Arvel Crynyd

If you've seen how terrifying a standard Star Destroyer is, you can only imagine the destruction a Super Star Destroyer can do.

During the Battle of Endor, the Rebel space fleet was incredibly outmatched, particularly by the Empire's new Super Star Destroyer, the Executor. No one knew how important it was to bring this ship down better than pilot Arvel Crynyd.

Crynyd first attempted to take down the mighty destroyer with his A-wing, and when that didn't work - and he was hit - he used his last moments to pilot his craft directly into the Star Destroyer's bridge.

  • Han's Tauntaun on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#11) Han's Tauntaun

If not for the brave sacrifice of Han's Tauntaun, there wouldn't be a Luke Skywalker or Han Solo today. This fearless animal gave its life to keep these men warm, and the galaxy is forever grateful (or, at least it should be).

There is no greater love than that of a man - or beast - who lays his life down to become a sleeping bag for his friend.

  • Lobot on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#12) Lobot

Lobot is a friend anyone would be lucky to have. He was at Lando's side for years, through thick and thin. When Lando decided to settle down into his job as Baron of Bespin, Lobot was right there with him taking over the day-to-day operations. When Lando chose to betray his best friend Han, Lobot couldn't have been more along for the ride. Similarly, when Lando decided instead to double-cross the most powerful man in the universe, Lobot readily agreed and was vital in helping Leia, Luke, and Han escape, without ever getting recognition for it.

You ask Lobot to run; he asks how far. You ask Lobot to jump; he asks how high. You ask Lobot to pull off a bald cap; he asks where he can find a tailor to fit it around his weird metal implants.

  • Mon Mothma on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#13) Mon Mothma

Within the Star Wars universe, Mon Mothma is far from an unsung hero. She led the Rebellion and then was the first leader of the New Republic. It's hard to get more "sung" than that. Outside of the fictional narrative, though? A household name she is not.

In a lot of ways, it's odd she isn't better known. Fewer people know her name than Admiral "It's A Trap!" Ackbar. She may not be the flashy hero in the middle of the battlefield, but she led the Rebellion to victory. #MonMothmaSpinOffMovie! Less lightsaber battles, more paperwork! The power of public service!

  • BoShek on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#14) BoShek

What if Obi-Wan had never met Han Solo? What if Luke had to face the Imperial army without the galaxy's best-looking smuggler? Luckily, you don't have to answer these questions. Who can you thank for that? BoShek, the man who introduced Obi-Wan Kenobi and Chewbacca inside the Cantina in the first place.

Sometimes greatness comes down to knowing your limits, and BoShek knew that if he were the one to take Obi-Wan and co., the film would have been a lot shorter. Luckily, he was able to put his ego aside and recommend the right Wookiee for the job.

  • General Armitage Hux on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#15) General Armitage Hux

Darth Vader spent a large portion of his life acting out deeds of incredible evil, then was good for the last five minutes he was alive and is forever remembered as the man who brought balance to the Force.

General Hux spent most of his life doing evil, and then an unspecified (but longer than five minutes) amount of time acting as a Resistance spy, and he's remembered as something of a jerk.

  • Boss Nass on Random Most Unsung Heroes Of The Star Wars Franchis

    (#16) Boss Nass

    • Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars

When you're the leader of a kingdom, you do what's right for your people. So, when the queen of the overworld comes to you and asks you to join her people in their fight against an invading army, you have a lot to consider. Is it worth it to put your people's lives on the line to do what's right?

With that said, it didn't take much for Boss Nass to agree to step out of the water and lead his people in the protection of a different nation. Would the fight have eventually come to the Gungans? Sure, most likely, but that doesn't take anything away from Boss Nass having the foresight to enter the battle before his people were threatened - and turn the tide of the invasion, to boot.
