Parasites pull an Invasion of the Body Snatchers by completely erasing their host's identity.

  Those who possess humans develop a hunger for other humans. They also hunt Parasites that failed to completely assimilate with their host. If you feel something funny in your ear during bedtime, it's already too late.

  (#2) Gauna - Knights Of Sidonia

  Any alien species powerful enough to drive the entire human race off Earth is worthy of the scariest anime monster title. In the mecha anime series, Knight of Sidonia, the shapeshifting alien race known as the Gauna sent mankind packing, forcing them to live on spaceships created from what was left of Earth. A Gauna cannot be easily killed because of their exterior covering called the Placenta. It is highly malleable and usually appears as tentacle creatures.

  The creepy thing about the Gauna is that they are capable of replicating human features for a limited time. They will make their appearance match that of a lover so a soldier can't deliver the final blow.

  It's pretty evident why the Titans from Attack on Titan would rank among the most scariest anime monsters around. Nude giants with the freakiest of faces, they run amok and devour humans like they're hors d'oeuvres. Even walls of crazy heights aren't enough to protect humanity from these unsettling creatures, which is why the post-apocalyptic world of Attack on Titan is one of the most dangerous anime locations in history.

  It may seem absurd to label anything with the word "Bunny" on it as a scary anime character, but the Bunny Beasts from the graphic anime series, Blood-C, are anything but cute and fluffy. Driven by a sickening urge to torture and kill its human prey, the Bunny Beasts use their transformative limbs to slaughter every helpless citizen they can find.

  The gory nature of Blood-C is always on full power, but the show's infamous town massacre scene takes the cake. Watching these demonic bunnies rip, shish-kabob, and blend their victims is a prime example of ridiculous anime overkills.

  Nothing gets the blood pumping faster than being chased by a demonic pig. In the shockingly violent Studio Ghibli film, Princess Mononoke, a tremendous boar becomes a wild demon, demolishing everything in his way. The boar's flesh rots as a swarm of crawling demon worms engulf his body, acting as an armor for its host and forming tentacles to attack.

  It's a beautifully animated scene of such a hideous beast.

  The God Hand from the anime action series, Berserk, is the ultimate squad of evil characters. Serving under the Idea of Evil, the God Hand are a group of five reality-warping beings responsible for humanity's suffering. Void, a prominent member of the God Hand, resembles the aliens from Mars Attacks with his big, exposed brain. He also has his eyes stitched out and lips peeled back to complete his disgusting appearance.

  While the other members look less creepy, though still intimidating, their malice toward humanity in nothing to scoff at.

  (#7) Terraformars - Terraformars

  Don't let their goofy bug faces fool you. These humanoid cockroach aliens called Terraformers will crush your skull like a watermelon. They are superpowered cockroaches from Mars that are almost impossible to kill. They're born with a natural hatred of humans, so they will kill any human without mercy and hesitation.

  Terraformers attack swiftly and brutally, doing things like ripping out a man's spine from his head. Needless to say, you're going to need more than Raid to wipe out these bugs.

  A Yoma takes the nightmare of a bug flying into your nose and magnifies it to a million. These muscular beasts from the dark fantasy series, Claymore, are parasitic creatures that invade the brain of their human hosts and take over. Yoma come in various shapes and sizes, but their common traits are cat-like golden eyes, pointy teeth, and demonic claws.

  Anyone unfortunate enough to become their prey will endure the cruelty of seeing their hosts kill everyone they love with their body.

  (#9) No-Face

  The lonely spirit known as No-Face hides an aggressive and selfish side in the animated movie, Spirited Away. The physical appearance of No-Face is simple and semi-transparent. His most memorable feature is his expressionless mask with the purple highlights near the eyes. However, No-Face can take on the worst traits of his surroundings and the people who inhabit it, such as greed and gluttony.

  This is exactly what happens in the Bathhouse during the film, which causes him to run rampant and reveal his creepy spider legs and hidden mouth.

  There's nothing merciful about the Angels of Neon Genesis Evangelion. Capable of splitting open a launched missile with its bare hands, an Angel causes death and destruction across the futuristic city of Tokyo-3. Their origins are unknown, but their drive to wipe out humanity is no secret to the remaining populace of Japan.

  For Tokyo-3 to survive, they must fight scary anime monsters by piloting the demonic cyborgs called Evangelions, who are just as mysterious and vicious as the Angels themselves.

  In Tokyo Ghoul, on the surface, ghouls are no different from human beings. They look like everyday Joes and Janes. However, their taboo hunger for human flesh make these anime monsters absolutely frightening. A Ghoul's cannibalistic diet cannot be avoided. The taste of normal foods literally makes them sick to their stomach and starvation will only drive them mad.

  On the plus side, they only need to eat every month or two and can still enjoy the rich taste of Folgers coffee.

  Death happens to everyone, even to the Gods of Death themselves. The Shinigami from the psychological thriller, Death Note, are extra-dimensional monsters that take the lives of humans to prolong their own existence. By writing the names of their victims on the all-powerful Death Note, the Shinigami add the lifespan of that person to their own. 

  While their grotesque appearance and near invincibility make the Shinigame a force to be reckoned with, they are essentially creatures of boredom that only steal human life to wade off the fear of death.

  It's never a good sign when the name of species is Danger Beasts. The fearsome creatures of Akame ga Kill! are savage monsters that eat and murder anything that trespasses on their territory. Danger Beasts come in various forms. Some appear human-like, while others are giant, twisted version of common animals, such as frogs, manta rays, and apes.

  Supernatural creatures inhabit the post-nuclear world of Vampire Hunter D, but Benge from the film Bloodlust might be the series' most wicked demon. With a black and white color pallet that screams Grim Reaper, Benge is an eerie, elongated man capable of killing anyone by attacking their shadow. He himself can transform into a shadow-like being by expanding and flattening his body, attacking his prey when they least suspect it.

  Not only can he absorb energy attacks, but Benge also has the power to craft harmful illusions. He's the shadow monster every poor child feared when the lights went out in their room.

  (#15) Lil' Slugger - Paranoia Agent

  Sometimes, the most horrific monsters are the simple and realistic ones. Lil' Slugger, the juvenile serial killer with the inline skates and crooked bat, is the most normal-looking anime monster presented on this list. Yet, his inhuman lust for preying on people who are at their most vulnerable is undeniably scary.

  Just one look at his sinister grin and bloody, golden bat is enough to send shivers down anyone's spine. The similarities to Lil' Slugger's vicious killings to actual murders is what makes him so creepy and real.
