  • Thumb of Get the Girl video

    (#1) Get the Girl

If you are among the .0001 percent of Office fans who were clamoring for an episode with stories led by Andy and Nellie, "Get the Girl" is for you. For everyone else, the episode spends way too much time on two of the show's most uneven characters. Plot one finds Andy leaving Scranton to declare his love for Erin, who is now working for an elderly woman in Florida. It is awkward and a little creepy, especially since Andy is still dating Jessica at the time. Plot two involved Nellie taking over as acting manager in Andy's absence, and she decides to hold performance reviews even though she doesn't know anyone.

Most uncomfortable moment: When Andy jumps out of a box, singing, "Signed, sealed, delivered, I'm yours!" but finds that Erin is not excited to see him. She also does not want to return to Dunder Mifflin, at least initially.

    Original Airing: March 15, 2012

    Season: 8

    Episode Number: 19

    Director: Rainn Wilson

  • Thumb of The Banker video

    (#2) The Banker

    • January 21, 2010

"The Banker" is one of the most skippable episodes of The Office, as it is a glorified clip show. The plot focuses on a banker's visit to Scranton in order to check on discrepancies at Dunder Mifflin. Dwight tries to impersonate Toby, but he ultimately returns to answer the banker's questions about conflicts, romances, and prejudices among the staff. Unless you were looking for a series refresher, this one is pretty easy to skip over.

Most uncomfortable moment: Toby's talking head about how he doesn't know what to say to the banker, because he doesn't want to lie... or tell the truth.

  • Gettysburg on Random Worst Episodes Of 'The Office'

    (#3) Gettysburg

    • November 17, 2011

The show is called The Office, so it's always risky when an episode is set outside of Dunder Mifflin. This episode finds Andy hosting an office field trip to historic Gettysburg to somehow compare selling paper to fighting in the Civil War. This trip is so unappealing, half the staff stayed back at the office where Robert California stops by to hear new ideas to help the company. Somehow, Kevin impresses him the most in a lackluster storyline about cookie placement in the vending machine.

The episode featured one silver lining, as Gabe was mistaken for an Abraham Lincoln impersonator while at Gettysburg, but for the most part, the storylines were uninspired, boring, and predictable.

Most uncomfortable moment: Following a montage of false alarms, Pam is once again revealed to have faked her water breaking in an attempt to get out of something in the office. The scene makes Pam and Jim – two of the series' most beloved characters – seem like selfish jerks.

  • Thumb of Here Comes Treble video

    (#4) Here Comes Treble

    • October 25, 2012

The cold open of "Here Comes Treble" is gold, but it goes downhill from there. Most of the episode is about Andy's delusions of grandeur regarding his college a cappella group. Erin has to calm him down after Broccoli Rob (Stephen Colbert) upstages him in front of the current Here Comes Treble members, who were visiting the office. There is also a Dwight and Nellie subplot that is pretty offensive, to be honest. Dwight goes on the hunt for a "deranged" person in the office, after he finds one of Nellie's pills to treat her anxiety disorder.

Most uncomfortable moment: Andy basically arguing with a TV, when he fights with Broccoli Rob on webcam about their college days. Erin finally has to pull the monitor's plug just to get it to stop.

  • Angry Andy on Random Worst Episodes Of 'The Office'

    (#5) Angry Andy

    • April 19, 2012

Back in season three, when Andy lost his temper at the office, he was sent away to complete anger management. He ended up missing four episodes in the process. Season eight's "Angry Andy," finds the title character getting fired after having a dramatic temper tantrum, proving that violent outbursts aren't the best way to get laughs on a sitcom. So, what made Andy so angry? Nellie stole Andy's job, docked his pay, and publicly made derogatory innuendos about his sex life. Andy goes on to throw a chair at Robert (James Spader) and punch a wall, none of which leads to any laughs. Elsewhere, Kelly finds herself in a love triangle, and Jim and Pam are touched by Ryan's poetry.

Most uncomfortable moment: Andy punching a wall for the second time in the series.

  • Christening on Random Worst Episodes Of 'The Office'

    (#6) Christening

    • November 04, 2010

The members of the office were unenthusiastic about having to spend time at the Christening of Jim and Pam's baby CeCe, and, to be honest, so were viewers. This episode is filled with predictable plot points; CeCe's dress gets ruined, the food runs out during the reception, CeCe goes missing only to be quickly rediscovered in the loving arms of Pam's mom. Perhaps in an effort to counter the more obvious storylines, Michael and Andy make the random decision to join a church youth group on a mission to build a school in Mexico, while Toby struggles to connect with "the big man."

Most uncomfortable moment: CeCe getting baptized in an Arcade Fire T-shirt.

  • Thumb of Mafia video

    (#7) Mafia

    • October 15, 2009

There are two main storylines in this episode, and both are weak. The first features Michael, Dwight, and Andy deciding an insurance salesman is a member of the mob, because his last name is Grotti, which is kind of similar to Gotti? Meanwhile, Kevin has taken up residence in Jim's empty office to fart. He spends so much time in there, that he picks up the phone when the credit card company calls to report suspicious spending in Puerto Rico. Of course, that's because they are on their honeymoon in Puerto Rico, but Kevin doesn't think about that, resulting in him accidentally canceling their card. The episode is weirdly xenophobic, assuming guest star Mike Starr was part of the mafia, simply because he is Italian.

Most uncomfortable moment: Michael arranges a lunch with Grotti, and then shows up with Dwight and Andy, the latter of whom is dressed as a mechanic for no comprehensible reason. Andy insists on bringing a tire iron into the restaurant in case he has to "defend Michael."

  • Prince Family Paper on Random Worst Episodes Of 'The Office'

    (#8) Prince Family Paper

    • January 22, 2009

This episode is hard to watch as Michael and Dwight con a friendly family paper man, Roger Prince, out of his lucrative client list. To make matters worse, the Prince family comes to Michael's aid when he damages his car in the parking lot. Though Michael does have a change of heart about taking the client list, he ultimately gives in to Dwight and passes along the information to David Wallace. Back at the office, the Dunder Mifflin staff engage in a great debate about whether Hillary Swank is hot or not. There are lots of laughs in the subplot, but it feels more than a little distasteful in retrospect, especially in the wake of the #MeToo Movement.

Most uncomfortable moment: When Michael acknowledges that he screwed over the Prince family, saying, "I guess this is what they call a bittersweet moment. It is bitter, because I slightly destroyed a wonderful little family. But, sweet, because David Wallace thought I did a good job."

  • Thumb of Chair Model video

    (#9) Chair Model

    • April 17, 2008

Jim fake proposing to Pam becomes a tired prank by the end of the episode. Meanwhile, Kevin and Andy organize a meeting with the bossess of all of the businesses in the office park, to try to get their parking spots back. Michael, still in the pursuit of love, becomes obsessed with a model in a chair catalog. He's also incredibly rude on the most awkward blind date with Pam's landlord, Margaret (Brooke Dillman). The silver lining is the hilarious prank Kevin plays on Michael, giving him the number to a Wendy's restaurant, while saying it's for a "hot, juicy redhead."

Most uncomfortable moment: The entire blind date between Michael and Margaret.

  • Thumb of The Carpet video

    (#10) The Carpet

    • January 26, 2006

This episode revolves around something disgusting and foul-smelling on the carpet in Michael's office. With his office out of commission, Michael takes Jim's desk, so he's forced to go into the annex with Kelly, who can't stop talking about Ryan. Consequently, "The Carpet" doesn't have any great Jim-Pam banter. The way the characters are separated in this episode results in a lack of the awkward yet affable charm most episodes of The Office have.

Most uncomfortable moment: The faces Jim makes as he's being cornered by Kelly, who wants him to ask out Ryan for her.

  • Phyllis's Wedding on Random Worst Episodes Of 'The Office'

    (#11) Phyllis's Wedding

    • February 08, 2007

The Office is known for it's cringeworthy moments, but "Phyllis' Wedding" is next level. Phyllis allows Michael to be in her wedding, pushing her dad's wheelchair down the aisle, so that she can get more time off for her honeymoon. However, in typical Michael fashion, he tries to insert himself into every part of the wedding, from posing in photos with the bridal party to giving brutally awkward speeches. The saving grace of this episode is the tantrum Michael throws walking down the aisle. Michael is furious after Phyllis' dad surprises everyone, by stepping out of his wheelchair, and walking down the aisle himself. Michael, however, feels her dad has stolen his moment, so he angrily drags the wheelchair down the aisle while everyone watches in uncomfortable silence.

Most uncomfortable moment: When Michael goes to speak with Phyllis before her wedding, and accuses her of "breaking wind," later pausing his speech to say, "That is pungent."

  • Thumb of The Meeting video

    (#12) The Meeting

    • September 24, 2009

"The Meeting" is not a good look for most of the cast of The Office. Jim goes behind Michael's back to try to get a promotion, which results in Michael defensively lying about Jim's performance to throw him under the bus. The back and forth continues until it's revealed that David Wallace (Andy Buckley) wants to make Michael and Jim co-managers, which makes very little sense (and is later rectified once Jo Bennett, played by Kathy Bates, becomes the CEO). The other storyline revolves around Toby and Dwight mistaking Darryl's sister for him. It's not a standout episode.

Most uncomfortable moment: When Darryl and his sister look like they're going to beat Dwight up for saying she looks like a man.

  • Thumb of Moroccan Christmas video

    (#13) Moroccan Christmas

    • December 11, 2008

The Office has amazing Christmas episodes, so it's easy to filter out the one that isn't up to par. That would be "Moroccan Christmas." Phyllis' first Christmas party as the head of the Party Planning Committee quickly devolves into a full-blown intervention for Meredith's drinking. The episode is as ridiculous as ever, but without the levity they usually have, since Meredith clearly does have a real problem.

Most uncomfortable moment: When Michael drags Meredith, a grown woman, into the rehab clinic, screaming like a child.

  • Thumb of Did I Stutter? video

    (#14) Did I Stutter?

    • May 01, 2008

If you don't like confrontation, adult men screaming, or adult men crying, you should really skip out on "Did I Stutter?" It's a different kind of cringe, watching Michael cry as Stanley screams at him, threatening litigation and calling him a  "professional idiot." Meanwhile, Pam's entire storyline for the episode revolves around her looking ugly because she's wearing glasses. Season four is pretty strong, which makes "Did I Stutter?" feel all the more awkward, and out of place.

Most uncomfortable moment: When Michael makes everyone leave the room so he can have it out with Stanley, but then immediately bursts into tears.

  • Thumb of Health Care video

    (#15) Health Care

    • April 05, 2005

Season one is a bit rough, because it's before the US The Office worked on softening Michael's edges, so he came across more cringeworthy and rude, like the UK The Office's David Brent (Ricky Gervais). Michael tries to get out of some undesirable work, so he gets Dwight to choose the new health plan. The power immediately goes to Dwight's head, and he slashes the coverage, making everyone in the office miserable. The silver lining is Dwight's ridiculous overconfidence when it comes to his health. He famously claims to be able to raise and lower his cholesterol, and also memorably says, "In the wild, there is no healthcare. In the wild, healthcare is, 'Ow, I hurt my leg. I can't run. A lion eats me, and I'm dead.' Well, I'm not dead. I'm the lion. You're dead."

Most uncomfortable moment: When Dwight calls everyone in the conference room, and forces them to publicly admit all of their medical issues, if they want them to be covered by insurance.
