Bertha can control the resonance of sound. Every object and living thing has a particular sound frequency. Bertha can launch a matching frequency at whatever she chooses, causing it to be desroyed. She can even do this with human organs, thus ending the person's life.
In order to activate her powers, Bertha has to eat something and then vomit it back up. While she could technically use just about anything, she chooses to eat cigarettes. Why? Because her daughter passed away from eating a cigarette she left out, and she's punishing herself.

Rock Lee is already plenty strong - he's actually one of the greatest taijutsu users in the world of Naruto. But there is a way for him to get stronger that doesn't involve training with Gai-sensei - drinking.
As an underaged ninja with very strict personal morals, Lee would never intentionally get drunk. When he accidentally gets drunk off of what he thinks is medicine during a fight with Kimimaro, he loses any sense of physical inhibition and goes wild on whoever happens to be around him. Afterwards, he won't remember what happened.
His fighting style may actually be based on a real style of martial arts called Drunken Boxing, in which the sober fighter imitates the movements of a drunk person.

Unlike many of the characters on this list, Kyo Sohma doesn't actually benefit from his power-up - actually, it's the biggest source of shame and misery in his life.
All cursed members of the Sohma family transform into an animal when hugged by a member of the opposite sex. While this is a bizarre trigger, transforming into an animal doesn't necessarily make you more powerful - depending on the animal, it may make you less so.
But in addition to his regular cat transformation, Kyo also turns into a horrible decaying monster that has the power to slap a person clear off a cliff. The trigger for this is losing a string of prayer beads that he always wears around his wrist. Realistically speaking, he'd be transforming a lot more often than he actually does just by rolling over on his wrist in his sleep.
