  With all the talk of nerve and chivalry, it’s not rare for Gryffindors to be equally hotheaded and full of themselves. Enter Thor, a being so far beyond most of the people in the MCU that he is considered an actual god - and a myth. Beyond his arrogance, however, Thor is willing to do whatever it takes to save his friends and family.

  Thor has put his life on the line countless times to protect the universe. It’s also pretty easy to imagine the ancient hero fighting side by side with Godric Gryffindor, slaying enemies while debating which is stronger - Gryffindor’s sword or Mjolnir.

  Hufflepuffs are the unsung heroes of the Harry Potter universe. While their traits and achievements are praiseworthy, they rarely get the glory. Ant-Man has saved countless lives and helps stop Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. However, he’s still viewed as a goofball - even by his partner, the Wasp. 

  Scott Lang never gives up, though. He was locked up for fighting for the common person, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to set a good example for his daughter, and when Captain America comes looking for backup, Lang suits up and risks his life for his teammates.

  A living computer born of Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Jarvis, Ultron, and the Mind Stone, Vision is intelligent, to say the very least. Though the MCU hasn’t put too much focus on his computing power and knack for problem-solving, the comic book version of the character is indispensable to the Avengers when it comes to brain power. 

  Ravenclaws are also characterized by their detachment from others, as they often bury themselves in books, research, and philosophical debates. While he may be a synthetic life form capable of love, Vision also constantly struggles to stay connected to humanity and not get lost in the ones and zeros of existence.

  • Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel Universe

  With most of the Guardians of the Galaxy wiped out by Thanos, Nebula steps up in Avengers: Endgame. She moves past her roots and hatred and becomes a genuine hero, but she’s still a complicated figure. Like many Slytherins, Nebula is a villain, but she’s also a product of her upbringing. Though that hardly excuses all of the atrocities she’s helped carry out - and the countless lives she’s taken - her ruthless nature is also her greatest asset as a warrior.

  Like the Gamora of the comics, Nebula fights for good, but she does so on her own terms. More of an anti-hero than anything, Nebula is willing to make the hard - and controversial - call if it saves the day.

  Along with bravery, “daring, nerve and chivalry” define Gryffindors. As such, it’s hard to think of a more picture-perfect inductee into the house than Captain America. Even before he was given a super-soldier upgrade, Steve Rogers was willing to lay his life on the line for others - literally. 

  From throwing himself on a seemingly live grenade to going toe-to-toe with his own government and teammates to stand up for his beliefs, Captain America is arguably the poster child for the Gryffindor house.

  As an actual wizard, Doctor Strange already has a leg up on his fellow Avengers when it comes to joining Hogwarts. Most likely to become a teacher after graduation, Doctor Strange is hard to place as a student. He can certainly be ruthless and callous in the pursuit of his goals, but the expansion of the mind is his true calling.

  Whether becoming one of the greatest surgeons on Earth or mastering the mystic arts in under a year, Stephen Strange is a mental powerhouse. Though magic is ill-defined in the MCU, it certainly seems like a fair amount of both imagination and brain power are involved. And if sorting through over 14 million realities for the one plan that will stop Thanos doesn’t qualify you to join Ravenclaw, then nothing does.

  Hufflepuffs are given short shrift in both the Harry Potter universe and pop culture at large, but their defining traits are incredibly admirable. Prized for their loyalty and willingness to work hard, Hufflepuffs don’t get the glory of Gryffindors and Ravenclaws, but they’re essential to any team.

  As an everyperson who straps on a bow and arrow and dukes it out with gods and monsters, Hawkeye is certainly brave, but he’s also loyal to his allies, family, and sense of duty. While other heroes were gifted amazing abilities, all of Clint Barton’s skills come from years of training and dedication.

  Loyal, clever, and brave, Natasha Romanoff is many things, but above all, she’s a spy. As the only person on Earth who could rival Nick Fury for the title of World’s Greatest Spy, Black Widow is cunning enough to pull one over on the God of Lies himself. 

  Slytherins often have a questionable moral compass, and Black Widow certainly has plenty of red in her ledger, but like the best Slytherins, she’s also willing to make those same tough calls in service of others.

  T’Challa isn’t just the heroic Black Panther, he’s the protector of Wakanda and its king. From ruling the most technologically advanced civilization on Earth to fighting off aliens and evildoers, the wearer of the Black Panther mantle requires a surplus of bravery and nerve.

  In the comics, T’Challa could easily fit into Ravenclaw or Slytherin, but the movies have focused more on his regal attributes. Black Panther is a fearless warrior, a wise leader, and an inspiring presence, making him a natural Gryffindor.

  As one of the smartest people on the planet, it’s easy to imagine Tony Stark ending up in Ravenclaw. Iron Man could also easily fit into Gryffindor or Hufflepuff given his respective bravery and penchant for hard work. Both the films and comics, however, have proven that the Armored Avenger is Slytherin material.

  Though painted with a negative brush, Slytherins are known for their guile and cunning. They’re also willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals. While Tony Stark often has altruistic intentions, he makes some questionable calls in order to achieve his desired results - which he always does.

  (#11) Scarlet Witch

  • The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Marvel Universe

  Despite her name - which is never used in the MCU - the Scarlet Witch of the films doesn’t appear to have magical powers. Still, she has what it takes to join the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While Wanda Maximoff starts off looking an awful lot like a Slytherin, she quickly joins the Avengers and demonstrates her bravery. It is her willingness to both master her growing powers and sacrifice her love for the universe that makes her a Hufflepuff.

  Hufflepuffs rarely get to be in the hero spotlight, but Scarlet Witch proves they can be remarkable. Despite the pain it will cause her, she takes Vision’s life while simultaneously holding off Thanos. That’s a level of determination, dedication, and sacrifice that’s unmatched in the MCU and proves Hufflepuffs can be just as noteworthy as the members of the other three houses.

  While the MCU hasn’t focused too much on Peter Parker’s brains, the web-slinger is a certified genius. His intellectual accomplishments in the comic books are numerous, but even on the big screen, he’s responsible for creating his versatile web fluid - which earns what counts as high praise from Tony Stark.

  Ravenclaws believe “wit beyond measure is man’s greatest treasure,” and who’s quicker with a quip than Spider-Man?
