Boogie Nights approaches Christmas with a pretty grim attitude. Buck (Don Cheadle) is at a bakery buying donuts when an armed robber comes in and leaves Buck as the only survivor. Buck sees an opportunity to get a leg up in a world that has dismissed and discounted him his entire life and walks out with the bag of cash the robber was attempting to take.

Boogie Nights celebrates Christmas cheer with a gruesome heist and a moral quandary.

  • One True Thing on Random Best Christmas Scenes In Non-Christmas Movies

    • Meryl Streep, Renée Zellweger, Lauren Graham, William Hurt, Diana Canova, Nicky Katt, Tom Everett Scott, Gerrit Graham, Patrick Breen, James Eckhouse, Lizbeth MacKay, Sloane Shelton, Mary Catherine Wright, Michele Shay, Stephen Peabody, David Byron

In One True Thing, Meryl Streep plays a devoted housewife and mother whose cancer diagnosis compels her somewhat-estranged adult daughter (Renée Zellweger) to move home and care for her. Mother and daughter then go on a surprising and sometimes messy emotional journey together.

One part of the movie takes place over Christmas, and if you can make it through the tree-lighting scene with dry eyes, your heart must be made of ice.

The Christmas scene from Mean Girls is one of the most memorable moments in a movie filled with memorable moments. Cady (Lindsay Lohan) and the Plastics take to the stage at the school talent show to perform a choreographed dance to "Jingle Bell Rock."

Their dance moves shock Cady's parents. After the music pauses and Gretchen accidentally kicks the CD player into another student's face, there's an awkward silence. Cady begins singing where the song left off. The other girls join in, Ms. Norbury hops on the piano to accompany them, and the whole crowd is swept up in the holiday spirit.

  • Steel Magnolias on Random Best Christmas Scenes In Non-Christmas Movies

    (#3) Steel Magnolias

    • Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Daryl Hannah, Olympia Dukakis, Julia Roberts, Tom Skerritt, Dylan McDermott, Kevin J. O'Connor, Sam Shepard

The Christmas scenes in Steel Magnolias capture the essence of the entire film: they're warm, witty, sentimental, and hilarious. The exchange between M'Lynn (Sally Field) and her daughter Shelby (Julia Roberts) is one of the highlights.

Shelby, a diabetic who was advised not to have children, tells her mother she's pregnant. M'Lynn is less than thrilled, to which Shelby responds, "There may be risk involved, but that's true for anybody... I would rather have 30 minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special."

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone doesn't skimp on the magic in any sense of the word. One of the movie's most powerful scenes focuses on the magic of the holidays rather than the supernatural.

There is the majesty of the Great Hall decked out in holiday decor, and the adventures of the friends who are spending their first Christmas together at Hogwarts. But most of all, there is the try-not-to-ugly-cry moment when Harry realizes that he actually received Christmas gifts for maybe the first time ever.
