  • John Deere Yellow on Random Best Factory Paints for Yellow Cars

    (#20) John Deere Yellow

If this doesn't rank in at least the Top 10, then there just aren't enough rednecks on the internet. John Deere has used several yellows over the years; the classic Bright Yellow from the logo is PPG 81986, but the most common classic color used on equipment is PPG 83558. Modern tractors (2002-later) use PPG 902265. You can buy the paint directly from John Deere itself, but you're really only paying extra for a JD label on the can. Which isn't entirely without value, if you're looking to re-pot a few house plants. Come on ya'll...represent.

  • Ford Chrome Yellow on Random Best Factory Paints for Yellow Cars

    (#21) Ford Chrome Yellow

Not to be confused with the PPG's Chrome Yellow, Ford's 1962 to 1987 take on the color was decidedly more restrained--almost orange. Sort of fascinating and beautiful in its own way. Also used by Chrysler in some fleet applications.

Ford code M1526, Chrysler DT2294, PPG 81353 and Dupont 4357.

  • Stinger Yellow on Random Best Factory Paints for Yellow Cars

    (#5) Stinger Yellow

The latest and greatest of Chrysler's yellow shades, used almost exclusively on performance vehicles. A bit more mellow than the much brighter Detonator/Solar Yellow (PPG 912790), Stinger has a deeper, an almost pearlescent quality that causes it to turn slightly orange at certain angles.

PPG code 931309 and BASF 885166.

  • Viper Yellow on Random Best Factory Paints for Yellow Cars

    (#2) Viper Yellow

Used from 1993 to 1998 on the first generation Viper, this was a color you simply could not escape if you cared anything about cars during this decade. Also known (unfortunately) as Dandelion Yellow.

PPG code 83431, Dupont B9333 and Sherwin Williams 46948.

  • Ford Canary Yellow on Random Best Factory Paints for Yellow Cars

    (#11) Ford Canary Yellow

Many manufacturers have used the words "Canary Yellow," but the color employed by Ford from 1993 to 2006 more or less defines the term. Ask most people to imagine a "Canary Yellow" car, and this is probably what they'll have in mind. Also known as "Chrome Yellow," "Zinc Yellow" and "Screaming Yellow."

Ford code M6675, PPG 4736 and Dupont B9355.

  • Bright Yellow on Random Best Factory Paints for Yellow Cars

    (#13) Bright Yellow

Yet another shade shared by both GM and Chrysler. GM used this color on 1974 and 1975 performance cars, and Chrysler resurrected it in 1983 for fleet vehicles. Bright yellow has experienced a recent resurgence in popularity thanks to its appearance in a certain movie about transforming robots.

GM code WA4642, Chrysler DT2590, PPG 2677 and Dupont 42809L.
