On May 4th, musician and performance artist Amanda Palmer announced her separation from her husband, author Neil Gaiman, via Twitter and Patreon. The two had been married since 2011, and have one child together, a son named Ash.
Palmer has been quarantining with Ash in New Zealand, while it appears Gaiman has moved back to his home country. As she wrote in her announcement, "I’ve got the kid full time in lockdown... Neil moved to the UK, my heart has been broken, and i am really struggling." Gaiman, seemingly caught off guard by the publicity, responded with a Tweet of his own, writing, "I see @amandapalmer has told people that we (like much of the world) are going through rocky times right now. It is true, we are. It's really hard, and I'd like to request privacy."

Business mogul Star made multiple posts that sparked breakup rumors in the days leading up to the announcement, including a tweet about feeling "down" and withdrawing from a tour due to "unforeseen personal reasons."
Still, Star ended his video on a positive note, concluding with the sentiment that he was "ready for this new chapter."
