  If you've got the money to spend, Weds will make you a set to custom fit almost any application.

  Sized 18 to 20 inches and available in common five-bolt sizes, there's just something indefinable about the Mach M3 that screams "cool." It's a little bit BMW, a little bit Tron, and just detailed enough to be interesting in any finish. For $600 to $800 a set, you'd have trouble finding a better deal.

  The Nutek 605 is a serious lightweight performance wheel for people with serious money. It's available in 18-inch and 19-inch diameters, as well as widths up to 14 inches. That makes it fairly appropriate as the rear roller for most mid-engine supercars. And at almost $5,000 a set for the most expensive, you can bet that's who'll be shopping for them.

  However, the rest of us mere peasants can get into a base model 605 for just $2,000 a set.

  Imagine time-warping the Foose pseudo-gasser wheel to the year 2030, and you've got Enkei's Aletta. This 17-to-18-inch wheel would look just right on a lot of modern musclecars, and it's sized to fit most popular applications. Priced about $520 to $600 a set.

  Available in 19 inches and sized to fit most domestic five-bolt applications, the GF9 is subtly cool in a very un-subtle way. The multi-layered detailing almost makes it look like it could be a cast magnesium rim from the 1960s, but the size and design are decidedly modern. And at about $1,280 a set, they're also notably inexpensive for good 19-inch wheels.

  Another classic design brought to the 21st century, the forged BBS Super RS has been around long enough to qualify as nostalgic for some of us. Reasonably priced at about $1,300 a set.

  No, that's not an old-school white-wall tire on a 15-inch steel rim. It's a fully modern tire wrapped around 20 inches of forged 6061 aluminum. That big "white-wall" is actually part of the rim.   Blingy but tasteful, the 17- to 20-inch Whitley wouldn't look out of place on a Bentley or a Maybach. Coventry's not asking that kind of money, though. If you've got a domestic or import five-bolt hub, you can find a complete set for $800 to $1,500, depending on the finish.

  Think of the Foose 10-Spoke as the "Gasser Mag Plus." It wouldn't pass for one of those classic rims in polished aluminum, but that's nothing a little sandblasting and paint wouldn't fix. Or, if shiny is your thing, you can just leave it as-is.

  Fuchs-style Posche wheels are the Torque Thrust IIs of Europe, used most famously on classic Porsche 911/930 models. Euromeister makes modern replicas to fit 17-inch tires and 5 x 130 bolt patterns, but custom patterns for non-Porsche applications are available. Very reasonably priced at $680 a set.

  A no-nonsense forged wheel evocative of some of the earlier aftermarket racing designs. Chunky and good-looking in a restrained way, the Japanese Avid AV12 would be a perfect fit for any number of classic German sports cars. Avid offers them in 15-inch and 16-inch fitments with multiple Honda bolt patterns, but custom fits are available.

  Look at about $600 a set and at least double that for custom fits.

  Is it even possible to not love this design? Available from 15 to 17 inches in most domestic five-bolt patterns, the Anza looks like something you'd find on Christian Bale's Batmobile.
