  • Credence Will Be Alive In The Second Film Because Obscurials Are Related To Horcruxes on Random Fan Theories About Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald So Convincing, They Might Spoil It

(#4) Credence Will Be Alive In The Second Film Because Obscurials Are Related To Horcruxes

Redditor /u/lugua's theory actually predicts a couple things, though not with a lot of specificity. Basically, this Redditor points to the similaralities between Credence's apparent "destruction" in the first movie and the optics of horcruxes being destroyed in the Harry Potter series. The theory is that Credence will return in The Crimes of Grindelwald because he wasn't wholly destroyed in the first movie. Furthermore, we'll learn of the relationship between Obscurials and horcruxes through Credence's character in this movie.

  • Ariana Dumbledore May Not Actually Be Dead on Random Fan Theories About Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald So Convincing, They Might Spoil It

(#7) Ariana Dumbledore May Not Actually Be Dead

Now that it's a certainty Credence Barebone (Ezra Miller) - the Obscurial from the first film - is alive and will return in this film, that raises other questions/ideas. Redditor /u/Oversa offers a very interesting theory, about the youngest Dumbledore, saying:

I would add that Credence's survival also certainly raises questions about Ariana Dumbledore, who was supposedly "killed" in the crossfire of a match between Albus Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald, and Aberforth Dumbledore. But if Credence survived and will be returning...then Ariana Dumbledore, too, could also still be alive.

If the popular fan theory about Ariana also being an Obscurial also proves true, then she could've been alive for years, and, like Credence, managed to escape from the household where she was trapped for so long.

  • Credence Barebone Is Alive  on Random Fan Theories About Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald So Convincing, They Might Spoil It

    (#8) Credence Barebone Is Alive

    Confirmed.

Producer David Heyman said Credence Barebone boarding a ship was cut from Fantastic Beasts. This tells us a couple things. First, Credence is alive, but he's also heading to Europe (most likely), as passenger ships leaving New York in that era were almost always heading that way. We also know Scamander has taken his circus on the road to Paris. This led fan S. P. Sipal to the conclusion Barebone will join Scamander's circus to be with other "freaks" like him, which is what he was harshly referred to as in the first film.

Warner Brothers has since confirmed Credence will be back "in a 'mysterious way,'" according to a story in Pottermore. This makes sense - as Pottermore goes on to remind us, Credence is an Obscurial, as established in Fantastic Beasts, and became "a figure of fascination for Dark wizard Grindelwald."

  • Claudia Kim's Character Might Be Nagini on Random Fan Theories About Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald So Convincing, They Might Spoil It

(#5) Claudia Kim's Character Might Be Nagini

    Confirmed.

Claudia Kim's character in The Crimes of Grindelwald remained mysteriously unnamed, even throughout the first trailer, in which we got our first good look at Scamander's traveling Circus Arcanus. The circus, we know (thanks to a poster in the first movie), included a "Snake Girl." Later, an image was released depicting a snake with a woman's head, captioned "Maledictus." As Pottermore makes clear, "Maledictus" isn't a name, rather, Kim is a Maledictus, "the carrier of a blood curse that destines her ultimately to transform into a beast." It was a mere baby step to conclude Kim's character would eventually become a snake. Why would they refrain from providing the name of a woman who we can reasonably assume will become a snake? Because it may very well be an imminently recognizable name, like Nagini.

Sure enough, in a short, behind-the-scenes-style video WB released in October of 2018, Kim reveals that her character is, indeed, the snake Nagini. As she hesitates to make the announcement, the rest of the cast cheers her on, and after she reveals her secret she admits, "I'm blushing!"

  • People Could Apparate Into Hogwarts Until Dumbledore Implemented A Magical Block Of Apparition Onto The Grounds on Random Fan Theories About Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald So Convincing, They Might Spoil It

(#1) People Could Apparate Into Hogwarts Until Dumbledore Implemented A Magical Block Of Apparition Onto The Grounds

Much has been made of the apparent apparition of wizards onto the Hogwarts grounds in the trailer for The Crimes of Grindelwald. While many believe this to be a plot hole or oversight, Redditor /u/murse_joe has an alternative theory:

"We see from Dumbledore himself that [apparating onto the grounds is] not actually impossible, he manages it. He may be just that powerful, but it’s not stated to be difficult; it’s stated to be impossible. I think Dumbledore is the one that set up, or at least strengthened, whatever prevents apparating. He may have set up up post-Grindelwald or at least post-Voldemort. Before that, people could.

Hermione says that people used to arrive different ways, one of which was apparition which often went wrong. I don’t think this was strictly the barrier, more that it was untested and untrained kids with parents, side by side is stated to be difficult too. Having students arrive by train is a side effect of the barrier, not an intrinsic property of the grounds."

  • Scamander Was Ordered To New York In Search Of An Obscurial By Dumbledore on Random Fan Theories About Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald So Convincing, They Might Spoil It

(#2) Scamander Was Ordered To New York In Search Of An Obscurial By Dumbledore

There is a theory that Dumbledore's sister Ariana is an Obscurial. Redditor/u/Obversa's uses this as a jumping point for their own theory. This Redditor believes we'll learn more about the relationship between Dumbledore and Newt Scamander, specifically that the latter is working for the former in search of answers about Obscurials in order to ultimately help Ariana.
