  • The Multiverse Was Created By The Avengers, Not The Snap - And It’s About To Be Explored on Random Fan Theories About How MCU Will Pull Itself Together And Continue Post-'Endgame'

    (#1) The Multiverse Was Created By The Avengers, Not The Snap - And It’s About To Be Explored

    In the trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home, Mysterio claims that he hails from an alternate Earth in the Multiverse. While the veracity of his statement is highly dubious, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise at all if the Multiverse was coming to the MCU. However, it might not come as a result of Thanos’s snap, but as a consequence of the actions of the Avengers.

    According to a fan theory by Redditor /u/jarred_98, the time-travelling shenanigans of the Avengers in Endgame are the actual reason that the Multiverse has come into existence. By creating a series of alternate timelines in their quest for the Infinity Stones, the Avengers inadvertently created a bunch of Earths where things are slightly differently than they are in mainstream continuity - and these new worlds could be explored in future films.

  • MJ Is Nick Fury’s Daughter on Random Fan Theories About How MCU Will Pull Itself Together And Continue Post-'Endgame'

    (#9) MJ Is Nick Fury’s Daughter

    Update: Debunked. As of Far From Home, there is no indication Fury is MJ's father.

    * * *

    It’s clear that there’s something going on with the character of Michelle Jones - now known as MJ - in the Spider-Man franchise, and Redditor /u/findmywallet might have nailed it with their rather compelling fan theory. According to the Redditor, MJ is the daughter of a prominent figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - none other than Nick Fury himself - and she’s been keeping tabs on Peter Parker for her old man.

    Surprisingly, the theory includes a number of points that make it seem not just convincing, but downright likely. MJ always seems to be in on a secret - including Parker’s identity as Spider-Man - and she’s been shown with her hair covering her eye on more than one occasion. Her connection to Fury would also explain her complex political beliefs - and Fury’s presence in Spider-Man: Far From Home. It could also pave the way for MJ to take over as the MCU’s premier spy if and when Samuel L. Jackson decides to retire. Redditor /u/findmywallet further explains:

    Historically, the parent-less Spider Man has a history of having complex relationships with friends’ parents. Harry's dad is Green Goblin. Liz's father is the Vulture. Gwen Stacy's dad is the police chief…This is a take that we haven't seen before.

  • The Five-Year Time Jump Will Be Used To Introduce A Seasoned Fantastic Four on Random Fan Theories About How MCU Will Pull Itself Together And Continue Post-'Endgame'

    (#13) The Five-Year Time Jump Will Be Used To Introduce A Seasoned Fantastic Four

    Update: Debunked. The Fantastic Four made no appearance in Spider-Man: Far From Home. It's still possible that they're active in the MCU, but you'd think Nick Fury would have turned to them first before asking a high school student to save the multiverse.

    * * *

    Conveniently enough, the end of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Three comes at the same time that Marvel's parent company, Disney, has acquired the majority of Fox holdings - making a boatload of new characters available to the MCU. High on many fans’ priority list for new additions are the Fantastic Four - Marvel’s first superhero team - and Redditor /u/TUXEDOMAKS thinks they know how they’re going to show up.

    Many have struggled with how the Fantastic Four can be added to a long-running film franchise and still be afforded the place of prominence and priority that their status as Marvel’s first family warrants. The fan theory posits that the team will have been retroactively formed during the five-year time jump of Avengers: Endgame and will have been active throughout that period - allowing them to debut as an already-established and seasoned superhero squad.

  • Adam Warlock Has The Infinity Stones on Random Fan Theories About How MCU Will Pull Itself Together And Continue Post-'Endgame'

    (#14) Adam Warlock Has The Infinity Stones

    There are many who believe the Infinity Stones aren't really gone from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thanos claims to have obliterated them in Avengers: Endgame, but no passing is really permanent in a comic book universe - even that of a cosmic object. A fan theory by Redditor /u/dannyjerome0 posits that the Stones are actually in the possession of Adam Warlock, a character who traditionally possesses them in the pages of Marvel Comics.

    The idea that Warlock could show up and get involved with the Infinity Stones is a solid one, especially since he is hinted at in a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 post-credits scene. The theory also suggests that when Thanos says he reduced the Stones to “atoms,” he's using a double-entendre for “Adam’s;” however, that may be a Reed Richards-worthy stretch of the imagination.

  • Tony Stark Will Leave A High-Tech Inheritance To Peter Parker on Random Fan Theories About How MCU Will Pull Itself Together And Continue Post-'Endgame'

    (#6) Tony Stark Will Leave A High-Tech Inheritance To Peter Parker

    Update: Confirmed! In Spider-Man: Far From Home, Peter Parker is given a pair of high-tech Tony Stark shades that are programmed with an artificial intelligence (E.D.I.T.H.) that can remotely access Stark Industries' databases and an army of drones.

    * * *

    Some fan theories regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are general and overarching, but others are highly specific - and one by Redditor /u/papa_prevail definitely falls into the latter category.

    They posit that a scene from Spider-Man: Far From Home in which Peter Parker dons an old pair of Tony Stark’s sunglasses actually holds significant meaning, because Stark’s sunglasses likely contain some high-tech secrets. Specifically, they think Stark’s sunnies will allow Peter to see through Mysterio’s deceptions - and perhaps learn that the giant monsters that Mysterio is fighting are not quite what they seem.

  • Black Widow’s Solo Film Will Take Place Within The Five-Year Time Gap on Random Fan Theories About How MCU Will Pull Itself Together And Continue Post-'Endgame'

    (#11) Black Widow’s Solo Film Will Take Place Within The Five-Year Time Gap

    Natasha Romanoff’s demise in Avengers: Endgame provides one of the film’s most impactful moments - and it may also have a huge impact on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the few confirmed films on the slate for Phase Four is a Black Widow solo adventure, and that’s obviously complicated by Romanoff’s untimely passing. Redditor /u/Wizardplum, however, thinks they’ve figured out how Marvel Studios is going to pull it off.

    The five-year time gap in Endgame results in several changes for the characters left alive after Thanos’s snap. Specifically, Black Widow becomes the head of a galaxy-wide intelligence agency while the rest of the world is falling apart. The fan theory posits that the Black Widow film will take place during this time period, telling the story of how Romanoff became one of the planet’s greatest heroes before giving her life to protect it. Redditor /u/Wizardplum explains, "During this time period we get to see how Banner becomes Professor Hulk and how Nat becomes the essential stand-in for Nick Fury that we see in Endgame."
