  • Seahorse Seashell Party on Random Worst 'Family Guy' Episodes

    (#1) Seahorse Seashell Party

    • October 2, 2011

As part of a special Fox event, a hurricane visits Quahog after also coming through Langley Falls and Stoolbend in "Seahorse Seashell Party." Brian trips on mushrooms while Meg finally confronts her family for treating her so poorly over the years.

Why it falls short: Fans hated how this episode has a really disturbing message at its core. Meg suffers an immense amount of abuse at the hands of her family. But when she confronts them, they start turning on one another. She accepts her role as the family punching bag, making the message essentially that abuse victims should remain in abusive situations without a fight. Surely that couldn't be what the writers were really going for, was it?

  • Brian & Stewie on Random Worst 'Family Guy' Episodes

    (#15) Brian & Stewie

    • May 2, 2010

"Brian & Stewie" is a famous bottle episode where Brian and Stewie are trapped in a bank vault for a weekend. They exchange stories and bond through the process with Brian ultimately revealing that he keeps a gun in a safety deposit box in case he ever wants to kill himself.

Why it falls short: This is a love it or hate it episode. What makes it really hard to stomach is the scene where Brian has to eat the poop out of Stewie's diaper or else he'll get a rash. It's best to skip ahead during that part.

  • Brian Griffin's House of Pain on Random Worst 'Family Guy' Episodes

(#10) Brian Griffin's House of Pain

    • March 28, 2010

In "Brian Griffin's House of Payne," one of his old pilots is discovered. Brian and Lois go off to film it with Brian having to make concessions at every turn. Meanwhile, Chris and Meg seriously injure Stewie to the point where he has a gaping wound on his head.

Why it falls short: The B-story really kills this episode. Brian's plot of getting a TV show made is fairly interesting, but any time it returns to the B-plot, it's hard to look at the screen with Stewie's maggot-infested gash.

  • The 2,000 Year-Old Virgin on Random Worst 'Family Guy' Episodes

    (#4) The 2,000 Year-Old Virgin

    • December 7, 2014

In "The 2,000 Year-Old Virgin," Jesus comes to Quahog and asks Peter to have sex with Lois because he's still a virgin. However, it turns out Jesus lied, and he does this every year to have sex with different women.

Why it falls short: Any episode featuring Jesus wanting to have sex is bound to court controversy. Family Guy even said before the 13th season started they made an episode they knew would be controversial.

  • Brian's a Bad Father on Random Worst 'Family Guy' Episodes

    (#9) Brian's a Bad Father

    • January 26, 2014

Brian reunited with his estranged son Dylan after he becomes a cast member for a new Disney Channel show. Brian uses this opportunity to further his writing career, alienating Dylan even more.

Why it falls short: Yes, the title of the episode kind of says it all, but it becomes really hard to find Brian likable after seeing him treat his son so poorly. The B-plot is not much better with Quagmire shooting Peter in the head.

  • Fresh Heir on Random Worst 'Family Guy' Episodes

    (#3) Fresh Heir

    • March 23, 2014

In "Fresh Heir," Carter leaves his entire fortune to Chris. Realizing his chance to make a bunch of money, Peter gets Lois to divorce him, and he proposes to Chris.

Why it falls short: "Fresh Heir" just makes your skin crawl. The plot deals heavily with incest, and even ignoring Peter's intentions to marry his son, many of the jokes are about incest in various other ways, such as Chris teaching Carter how to masturbate. It's really just gross.
