  • A Nightmare on Face Time on Random Best Randy Marsh Episodes On 'South Park'

(#14) A Nightmare on Face Time

    • Oct 24 2012

Randy foolishly buys a Blockbuster Video believing—against everyone else's better judgment—it's a good business investment. Naturally, the video store does absolutely zero business (even though Randy remains optimistic about business picking up because of Halloween). After a short while, his optimism turns to insanity and Randy slowly starts to lose his mind.

Sometimes South Park needs to reach to connect the dots, but comparing Randy Marsh to Jack Torrance of The Shining works on so many different levels. For starters, Randy is a flawed man trying to hold it all together. He's also a parent who's constantly trying to be a good father and husband but his demons get the better of him. Also, a haunted and empty Blockbuster Video is a perfect stand-in for the Overlook Hotel that overtakes Torrance.

Funniest line: "You were thinking it. But you're wrong. The average person still wants to rent movies they can hold in their hands. We're gonna have customers up our a** Sharon, UP OUR A**.

  • Over Logging on Random Best Randy Marsh Episodes On 'South Park'

    (#8) Over Logging

    • Apr 16 2008

After finding out that the town's internet connection is down, Randy does what only he would think is logical, which is taking his family all the way to California to a place that is rumored to have an internet connection. "Over Logging" gives us a desperate Randy Marsh, and by this point in the show's run we know that a desperate Randy equals a hilarious Randy.

Randy can't be without an internet connection due to his online compulsion and that is what makes him uproot his family. In this episode, Randy Marsh didn't break the internet, the internet broke Randy Marsh.

Funniest line: "There was a ghost! A-a-and-this, this ectoplasm! It ran through here; it sli-it slimed me!"

  • Pinewood Derby on Random Best Randy Marsh Episodes On 'South Park'

    (#13) Pinewood Derby

    • Apr 15 2009

Randy's tasked with representing planet Earth as aliens invade thanks to the super-fast (and rule-breaking) pinewood derby car he made for Stan. When aliens ask to meet with Randy and Stan and inspect the model, Randy is insistent that the pinewood derby car they made was legitimate, even at the behest of Stan to tell the truth. Some miscommunications arise and eventually Randy and Stan stumble upon a pile of space cash. Instead of turning the cash into the proper space authorities, Randy convinces everyone to hide the cash, leading to Earth being barred from the rest of the universe forever.

"Pinewood Derby" is another example of what happens when Randy gets thrust into a leadership position due to his stupidity. This is textbook Randy Marsh as he goes too far trying to help his son with something as small as winning a pinewood derby race and gets way in over his head way too fast. Randy leading a small group in town is dangerous, but Randy leading the entire planet is downright scary.

Funniest line: "Well Stan, we're proud of you for coming clean. But it doesn't change the fact that you cheated. Go to your room, son."

  • You're Getting Old on Random Best Randy Marsh Episodes On 'South Park'

    (#15) You're Getting Old

    • Jun 08 2011

After years of dealing with Randy's ridiculous shenanigans, Sharon’s finally hit a breaking point and leaves Randy, but instead of working to win her back, Randy becomes obsessed with becoming a musician. "You're Getting Old" is a stand out Randy Marsh episode if only for the fact that Randy's ridiculous antics throughout the years are shown to have taken their toll on his wife Sharon. Usually, on shows like South Park, everything starts at square one as soon as one episode ends and the next one begins. No real ramifications take place no matter how severe one's actions are.

What makes this episode truly stand out is the fact that viewers actually get to see a genuinely vulnerable Randy and we begin to see that Trey Parker and Matt Stone give more weight to the storylines on the show and have storylines span over multiple episodes.

Funniest line: "The other night I was chatting in a Tween Wave chatroom, because I do love Tween Wave so much.

  • All About Mormons on Random Best Randy Marsh Episodes On 'South Park'

    (#17) All About Mormons

    • Nov 19 2003

When Randy finds out Stan went to a Mormon kid's house for dinner and was taught a few things about the Mormon faith, he becomes livid that another family was pushing their beliefs onto his son. Randy becomes so enrages he goes over to the Mormon family’s house to beat up the father (after double-checking his ethnicity first). After talking to the father (Mr. Harrison) and learning a little bit about the Mormon faith himself, Randy now decides to convert to Mormonism basically on the spot.

Randy Marsh isn't a huge focal point in the All About Mormons, but this episode is a good illustration of how simple-minded and easily persuaded he can be.

Funniest line: "That does it! From now on, our family is Mormon!

  • The Cissy on Random Best Randy Marsh Episodes On 'South Park'

    (#18) The Cissy

    • Oct 08 2014

"The Cissy" drops one of the biggest bombshells in South Park (maybe in television history). Randy Marsh: husband, father, and record holder of the world's largest poo, is, in fact, Grammy recording Artist Lorde. Trey Parker and Matt Stone explain how Randy is Lorde in a way only they could, by Randy pretending to be a woman to use the women’s restroom at work (which coincides with the plot of this episode). Randy found that the women's restroom was a great place to make music in and thus Lorde's discography was born.

This episode is great cause it's an episode that shows Randy falling upwards. It reveals that somehow just wanting a quiet and clean place to use the restroom propelled him to pop music superstardom. It's just one of those random things South Park likes to throw into the show's canon.

Funniest line: "The record company messed it all up. It was supposed to go ‘Hunger Games', yah yah yah, yah yah yah! 'Hunger Games.’ But they just do what they want with my songs.
