  • Thanos Vs. Everyone - 'Avengers: Endgame' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#1) Thanos Vs. Everyone - 'Avengers: Endgame'

The final battle in Avengers: Infinity War was certainly a sight to see, but the MCU wasn't going to take a step back for Avengers: Endgame. The final battle kicked off moments after the Hulk undid Thanos' snap. Unknown to the heroes, Nebula had helped bring Thanos from the past into the present via time travel and Pym Particles.

His craft took position above Avengers HQ and destroyed it. The heroes managed to get out but found themselves going up against Thanos, who easily defeated Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America. Just as all seemed lost, portals began opening all-around a beaten and battered Cap, revealing every good guy in the MCU.

The heroes lined up, and Cap said the words every fan was hoping to hear from the beginning of the MCU, "Avengers, assemble!" With those words, an epic battle broke out, the likes of which haven't been seen since The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King and maybe some biblical flicks from the early days of cinema.

The fight involved every hero previously seen in the MCU, and that included Howard the Duck! The entire third act of the film was the final battle, and few could say it wasn't epic.

  • Thanos Vs. Everyone - 'Avengers: Infinity War' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#2) Thanos Vs. Everyone - 'Avengers: Infinity War'

It's fair to say there wasn't much going on in Avengers: Infinity War that wasn't part of the final battle. After all, it took place in multiple locations, one right after the other, but that's what made it so compelling and fun to watch.

On Thanos' homeworld, several heroes fought against the Mad Titan and nearly defeated him before Doctor Strange gave him the Time Stone to save Tony's life. Shortly after that, Thanos popped over to Wakanda to join the battle that had already raged there for most of the final act of the film.

That battle was going well until Thanos showed up, and after he used the Time Stone to bring Vision back from the dead only to kill him by pulling the stone from his forehead, he was unstoppable with all six Infinity Stones.

Thor attempted to defeat him, but as Thanos said, he should have gone for the head. Thanos managed to snap his fingers, and cull half of all life from existence.

  • The Battle Of New York - 'Avengers' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#3) The Battle Of New York - 'Avengers'

The first Avengers movie was going to always have an epic final battle, and that's exactly what happened in what would become known as The Battle of New York. Having successfully opened a rift in space, Loki called forth the Chuitari, who flooded into NYC, and began establishing their foothold.

The Avengers, previously disparate and fighting against one another, came together for the first time to stop Loki and his alien minions. The battle was waged across much of Manhattan, with several members of the team engaging individual warriors, hovercraft, and giant armored space whales.

Ultimately, the Hulk smashed Loki, taking him down a notch, and Tony managed to fly a nuclear warhead directly through the portal and into the mothership. When the explosion destroyed the spacecraft, all warriors on Earth dropped dead, the rift closed, Iron Man fell through, and the Avengers won the day.

  • Cap Vs. Iron Man - 'Captain America: Civil War' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#4) Cap Vs. Iron Man - 'Captain America: Civil War'

The fight scene between Cap's people and Iron Man's is truly epic, but that's not the final fight in the movie. After heading to the former Soviet Union, Tony Stark learns that not only did Bucky kill both of his parents, but he also learned that Captain America knew about it for some time.

That wasn't something he was willing to simply forgive, and the two former friends go up against one another with everything they've got. Cap also has Bucky fighting on his side, but the real fight ends up being between the two Avengers.

Each gets the upper hand on more than one occasion, but the fight finally concludes with Cap defeating Iron Man by disabling his suit. As he walks away, Tony yells out that his father made him the shield he carried, so Cap dropped it, and walked away.

  • Thor Vs. Hela - 'Thor: Ragnarok' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#5) Thor Vs. Hela - 'Thor: Ragnarok'

Thor and Hela go up against one another pretty hard in the throne room on Asgard at the end of Thor: Ragnarok. Thor is unable to do much damage, but Hela manages to slash her brother across the face, destroying his eye in the process.

As the fight heads out to the balcony, Hela gets her hand around Thor's throat and gods him down, mocking him. She reminds her little brother that she's the Goddess of Death, and asks what he was the God of, which kicks off a flashback/vision of Thor and his father reminding him that he's not the God of Hammers, he's the God of Thunder.

He reminds Hela of this with the lightning bolt to end all lightning bolts and manages to escape. Unfortunately, he didn't damage her at all, and when she shows up to finish him off, his plan comes to fruition as Surtur manifests as big as a mountain, and Hela winds up at the point of his sword as it's driven down to the heart of Asgard, destroying it.

  •  Cap Vs. Bucky - 'The Winter Soldier' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#6)  Cap Vs. Bucky - 'The Winter Soldier'

There are several fight scenes between Captain America and the Winter Soldier in this movie, but the one that really goes all out, comes at the end. Cap and the gang rush to the helicarriers to install software that will ground them, and Cap happens to be guarded by his former friend and partner.

The two come face to face, and fight for several minutes. Throughout the battle, Cap continues to try and accomplish his mission while simultaneously fighting his enemy. This continues up to the point he is successful in installing the chip, and the ship comes crashing down.

In the end, Cap nearly dies, and the Winter Soldier, or more accurately, Bucky Barnes, saves him. This final fight proved to Cap that Bucky could be redeemed, but it would lead to a conflict with Iron Man in the next movie.

  • Spider-Man Vs. Mysterio - 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

    (#7) Spider-Man Vs. Mysterio - 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'

When Spider-Man went up against Mysterio at the end of the film, he wasn't just fighting the villain, he was fighting against his army of support staff, and the fleet of drones with combat capabilities that projected images making it difficult to discern what was real and what wasn't.

While this was happening, Spidey's "Peter Tingle" was on the fritz, but he managed to get a hold on it once more, which made it possible for him to overcome the misleading vision, and destroy the drones. As he made his way to the end of the hallway, a final image made it seem as if he defeated Mysterio, but in truth, he was pointing a gun at his head.

Peter grabs the weapon and removes it before the shot can take him out. Peter then gets the glasses that control the drones off his enemy, and shuts them all down, winning the day. Mysterio ends up dying as a result of the battle but manages to win in the end by blaming everything on Spider-Man right before he exposed his secret identity.

  • The Avengers Vs. Ultron - 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#8) The Avengers Vs. Ultron - 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron'

One of the biggest problems with Ultron was that he managed to download his mind into numerous copies of himself. When the Avengers face off against him in the final fight of the film, they have to first defeat a literal army of his copies. As they are doing this, they are simultaneously trying to keep Sokovia from falling back into the Earth, so the stakes are high.

The fight begins in the church with hundreds of Ultron copies going up against the heroes, and it's epic. In the meantime, across the floating city, the remnants of S.H.I.E.L.D. are working to remove every civilian they can to a helicarrier. Eventually, the combined might of every Avenger, which now includes both Wanda Maximoff and her brother, deal a deadly blow to Ultron.

His copies are destroyed, leaving the original, larger, and more powerful version to face off against the heroes by himself. He does so but gets utterly destroyed. The film concludes with Vision finishing off the very last copy of Ultron after they have a brief conversation.

  • Ant-Man Vs. Yellowjacket - 'Ant-Man' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

    (#9) Ant-Man Vs. Yellowjacket - 'Ant-Man'

The final fight between Yellowjacket and Ant-Man is likely the funniest in the entire MCU, but that doesn't make it any less consequential. The fight begins in a helicopter, where the two end up dropping from the sky while encased in a briefcase. They land in a pool, and they end up fighting at full-size, but after Yellowjacket shrinks, Ant-Man manages to bat him into a bug-zapper.

He's only out for a little while though, as he makes his way to threaten Scott Lang's daughter. When they meet up in her bedroom, they fight across the landscape of her train set, and a Thomas the Tank Engine manages to get blown up to epic proportions.

Ultimately, their fight comes to an end when Ant-Man shrinks to microscopic levels so that he can enter into his enemy's suit, and destroy it from within. Yellowjacket is helpless as his shrinking tech fails, and he implodes into himself and is destroyed.

  • The Guardians Of The Galaxy Vs. Ronan The Accuser - 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#10) The Guardians Of The Galaxy Vs. Ronan The Accuser - 'Guardians Of The Galaxy'

The best part about the fight between the Guardians of the Galaxy and Ronan the Accuser is that it kicks off with a dance battle. Technically, their fight began in the sky above Xandar, but it's really the final confrontation on the ground that sees the good guys finally face off against the villain of the story.

Ronan finally has his hands on the Power Stone and is standing on Xandar, so all he needs to do to destroy the planet is to stomp his hammer down onto the ground. Before he manages to do that, he notices Star-Lord clumsily dancing off to the side. He asks what he's doing, and Star-Lord lets him know that he's being challenged to a dance-off.

Now, Star-Lord is a silly man, but he's not that silly. In truth, he's only working to distract his enemy long enough for Rocket to complete the construction of a weapon he then fires at the hammer, destroying it. The Stone is released, and both Star-Lord and Ronan go to grab it, but Star-Lord gets it first. As each member of the Guardians join hands, they have enough power to forestall their own destruction while bringing about Ronan's, causing him to explode in a blast of purple energy.

  • Black Panther Vs. Killmonger - 'Black Panther' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#11) Black Panther Vs. Killmonger - 'Black Panther'

The first time Black Panther faces off against Killmonger, he gets beaten so badly, he nearly died. Fortunately, he managed to come back from that beating to once again face off against his cousin in a fight for the supremacy of Wakanda, which could very well be a fight for the world.

The two battle against one another as they cover a lot of ground, but they eventually find themselves fighting in the mines of Wakanda, where automated trains run Vibraium ore along maglev tracks.

As they fight along these tracks, their suits continuously fail and return to working condition, which gives T'Challa an advantage, and the upper-hand in the fight. Their battle was brutal, but in the end, T'Challa stands victorious. He pulls his dying cousin's body to the surface so he can see the sunset over his nation for the last time, brining their conflict to a close.

  • Spider-Man Vs. Doctor Octopus - 'Spider-Man 2' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

    (#12) Spider-Man Vs. Doctor Octopus - 'Spider-Man 2'

In the second Spider-Man film, Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus go up against one another more than once, but it's their final battle that really has an impact. Spidey wants to try and save his former mentor, but is unable to get to him before he's nearly defeated. Doc Oc manages to get the upper-hand in the fight, but in threatening Mary Jane, he makes a blunder that sees Spidey unleash his all on him.

When the Doc is beaten back, Spider-Man reveals that he's Peter Parker, and manages to appeal to the Doc's true nature, which was corrupted by his tentacles. Their fight comes to a close as Doc Oc goes against his tentacles' influence, and destroys his own experiment, and himself in the process.

The fight concludes with Peter turning to Mary Jane looking astonished to see who Spider-Man was all along, and the two escape the destruction, ending the movie.

  • Spider-Man Vs. Vulture - 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

    (#13) Spider-Man Vs. Vulture - 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'

When Spider-Man swung over to the MCU in Captain America: Civil War, he did so in an epic battle between the two hero camps, but that wasn't a final battle for our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. His first true final battle in the MCU came in Spider-Man: Homecoming, when he battled Adrian Toomes, aka, the Vulture!

In their final fight, Spidey makes his way to the aircraft as Toomes works to hijack some of the Avengers' greatest possessions. The plane doesn't remain in the air for long as the two come to blows, but when they end up on the beach, Toomes gets the upper hand.

Just as it appears as if Spider-Man is done for, he notices that Toomes' equipment is getting ready to explode, so he attempts to warn him, but is rebuffed. In the end, Spider-Man is victorious, Toomes is dead, and another epic fight closes out a Marvel movie.

  • Iron Man Vs. Killian - 'Iron Man 3' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#14) Iron Man Vs. Killian - 'Iron Man 3'

The third Iron Man film pitted Tony against an enemy that seemed impossible to kill. No matter what he tried, Killian just kept coming, and even worse, he infected Pepper with Extremis, potentially killing her in the process. Seemingly defeated, Tony still had one card up his sleeve.

He called forth every Iron Man suit of armor he'd built and had them fight off the Extremis enemies while he went head-to-head with Killian. The suits, working through JARVIS, managed to do their job well, but they all ended up being destroyed in the process.

Tony managed to get one more suit on Killian before blowing it up, but even that left the villain alive and recovering. At the last moment, Pepper shows up, and slams into Killian with a large pipe. She then kicks some unexploded ordinance into him, and Tony blasts it with a repulsor, finally putting Killian down for good.

  • Doctor Strange Vs. Dormammu - 'Doctor Strange' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#15) Doctor Strange Vs. Dormammu - 'Doctor Strange'

When Doctor Strange confronts Dormammu, it's only after he and his allies lost the fight to his minions. Remembering after that moment that he has the power to control time hanging around his neck, he rewinds his local events and halts time so that he can go have a conversation with the evil entity from another dimension.

When Doctor Strange fights against Dormammu, it's not so much a fight as it is his destruction over and over and over again. He managed to put himself and Dormammu into a time loop, where he is killed an infinite number of times, leaving Dormammu knowingly stuck in an infinite loop.

The two come to an agreement, and Dormammu agrees to leave Earth alone, and take his frustration out on his minions. Doctor Strange returns to the ground, where he informs his enemies of their infinite punishment at the hands of a very wrathful god.

  • Spider-Man Vs. Green Goblin - 'Spider-Man' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

    (#16) Spider-Man Vs. Green Goblin - 'Spider-Man'

The first live-action Spider-Man film by Sam Raimi featured a final battle between Spider-Man and his longtime comic book nemesis, Green Goblin. In the fight, the Goblin goes at Spidey hard, but at this point in the movie, Spider-Man isn't playing Mr. Nice Guy any longer.

He's had enough, so he pulls a wall down on Gobby, and beats him senseless. Just as he gets the upper-hand, the Goblin removes his mask to reveal himself as Norman Osborn, the father to Peter's best friend and roommate. They speak for a moment, while Norman surreptitiously moves his glider in for a kill.

Spider-Man senses the danger with his Spidey-Sense, and jumps out of the way, leaving the glider no place to go but the Goblin's chest. Just as he's about to die, he asks Peter to keep his villainous ways a secret from Harry, and despite nearly being killed by the man, he honors that request.

  • Captain America Vs. Red Skull - 'Captain America: The First Avenger' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#17) Captain America Vs. Red Skull - 'Captain America: The First Avenger'

The final battle between Captain America and the Red Skull takes place on a large wing-shaped aircraft, which is carrying several guided bombs, that have the destructive force of the Tesseract. Cap fights all over the ship, disabling the bombs and their pilots as he makes his way to the bridge to battle the Red Skull.

When they finally come face to face, Cap manages to knock the Skull's weapon free while he loses hold of his shield. The Skull picks it up, and they begin fighting against one another as the plane nosedives toward the ocean. Their fight continues as gravity, and their inertia put them all over the plane's inner surfaces.

After the Skull manages to right the aircraft, he begins his monologue while shooting at Cap, but when he manages to throw his shield into his enemy's belly, the Tesseract becomes exposed, and the Red Skull picks it up with his hand. The cube opens a portal into space and delivers the Red Skull through it in what looks like a painful form of cosmic disintegration.

  • Captain Marvel Vs. Yon-Rogg & The Kree - 'Captain Marvel' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#18) Captain Marvel Vs. Yon-Rogg & The Kree - 'Captain Marvel'

At the end of Captain Marvel, the titular hero destroys her inhibitor chip embedded in her neck and unleashes all of her power, which is immense. She goes up against her former teacher/friend, Yon-Rogg, and beats the ever-living crap out of him.

She then straps him to a rocket, and send him to the Kree homeworld as a message to the Supreme Intelligence. That final fight came after she destroyed the Kree warships in orbit around Earth, which saw her fly through them with literally no difficulty at all.

She could have destroyed the final ship, which was helmed by Ronan the Accuser, but instead chose to send a message by floating outside his ship with the very clear threat that the Kree needed to know what was in store for them should they forget how powerful she had become.

  • Hulk Vs. Abomination - 'The Incredible Hulk' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#19) Hulk Vs. Abomination - 'The Incredible Hulk'

One of the biggest problems people had with the first Hulk film by Ang Lee had to do with the final battle and the lack of a real bruiser for the Hulk to battle. The second live-action film to bare his name fixed that by pitting the Incredible Hulk against one of his greatest foes in the comics, the Abomination.

Their fight tears across the streets of New York City as each gigantic brute slams cars and whatever else they can find against one another. Nothing was held back in their brutal slugfest, and the property damage was significant.

Their fight brings down the copper carrying Betty and her father, which puts the Hulk's lady friend in direct harm from Abomination. That's all he needed to see to go from 100% to 10,000% as he stabbed his enemy with some debris before choking him nearly to death with a chain. After he renders his enemy unconscious, he holds back in killing him when he hears "Stop," from Betty.

The fight concludes with a beaten Abomination being shoved aside, and the Hulk jumping away from the scene, where he knows he won't be able to get any peace without putting some distance between himself and the General.

  • Blade Vs. Deacon Frost - 'Blade' on Random Greatest Final Battles in Marvel Movies

(#20) Blade Vs. Deacon Frost - 'Blade'

Blade hasn't met a vampire he couldn't kill in a variety of different ways, but at the end of the movie, Deacon Frost managed to up his game by completing a ritual, which made him into a so-called "blood god."

When Blade attempts to kill him, he finds that his usual tricks are inadequate, and Frost is able to heal from any injury he throws his way. The fight scene has some epic swordplay mixed with martial arts, which is something both excel at, but after Blade chops off his enemy's forearm and cuts him in half, it's clear he's going to need to do a bit more to take him out.

The only way he manages to do so is to get a bunch of his serum and throw it into Frost, which causes him to literally explode from within. Right before this happens, Blade utters the memorable line, "Some Motherf*****s are always trying to ice-skate uphill."
