About This Tool

Vicksburg Campaign was an important battle in the western theater of the civil war. The battle took place in the lower and middle Confederate States of America of the Mississippi River, centered on Vicksburg, Mississippi. The two sides are commanded by the commander in chief of the Army of the Tennessee, Major General Ulysses S. Grant, and Lieutenant General John Kerry Forder of the Confederate States of America.

The VICKSBURG Campaign officially began in December 1862 and ended with the surrender of Bloomberg on July 4,1863. The United States of America has committed its navy and army to multiservice coordination. The campaign included 11 major and minor battles, including amphibious landings, mobile warfare, fortification and other forms. There were Mississippi Mounted Rifles, Mississippi Cavalry Regiment, Mississippi Heavy Artillery Regiment, and others from Mississippi.
