Starting in 2006, the requirements for entering the draft have been raised to at least 19 years of age, and more than a year after graduating from high school. International players must have played in a professional league in their home country, and if they are in a high school or college in the United States, they must be qualified for the draft on the basis of their home country. For young players in the draft, the NBA ranks them based on how well they played in college (or high school), which does not determine the team’s selection at the draft.
