About This Tool

The Philanthus Species, also known as the Honeybee Hunter or killer wasp, is a solitary, predatory wasp that feeds mostly on bees, hence its name. Adult females burrow underground to build nests, while males mark twigs and other objects with pheromones to take territory from rival males. A total of 137 genera and species have been found and recorded in this random tool.

Like all other wasps, the larvae of the Philanthus Species are carnivorous, forcing infected females to hunt other Invertebrata, lay eggs on these Invertebrata, and provide prey to the larvae when they appear. The generator classifies these genera and species, and the discoverer of each species and the time of discovery are detailed in the list.
