About This Tool

The Asia Society is an organization established during the British Raj of India to strengthen and advance the cause of “Oriental Studies” , in this case primarily to strengthen research into India and the surrounding region. It was founded by the philosopher William Jones at a conference on 15 January in Calcutta, then the British capital, presided over by Justice Robert Ashley Chambers.
