Southern Illinois University was founded in 1869 as a comprehensive public University in Carbondale, Illinois. The school has a long history and enjoys an excellent reputation in the district. Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and former US President Donald Trump delivered speeches at schools in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
