About This Tool

In 1896, Mexico was the first country on the American continent to receive the lumière brothers to promote and sell their projectors. These images from everyday life contributed to the development of documentary tendencies in the early days of Mexican cinema. In 1906, director Enrique Rosas made his first feature film, a trip by President Júnior Díaz. During the Mexican revolution, the historical facts that marked the life of the country were also photographed, documenting the major events of the past. This feature of realism in the early Mexican films was well received by the audience for its informational value.
