    The family's Lexus SUV took a hit for the worse, as the dad was operating on only three hours of sleep. This heartbreaking family tragedy led to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charges.

    Just before 2 in the morning, Black Friday shoppers got into a fight in the parking lot of a Walmart near Oakland, California. The San Leandro customers were confronted by multiple suspects who wanted their items and, after they refused, one of them pulled out a gun.

    While one suspect fired, wounding one of the victims, the other suspect fled the scene. The suspect who was detained was in his mid-20s. The gunshot victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

    Thanksgiving week took an odd turn when a total of three separate fights took place at the same Walmart in Rialto. The injured officer was treated and released the same night, but one shopper said "This is my first Black Friday and my last."

    First, few facts to convey the severity of this incident: over 2,000 people forced their way into the store five minutes before scheduled to open. The store never, in fact, oficially opened. The crowds opened the store themselves, while chanting "push the doors in." And that they did, knocking the doors off their hinges and effectively basting it apart.

When police and paramedics arrived, people continued to push past them. When police were forced the store to close, people kept pushing past them. The excuse the over-eager shoppers gave was: "I was in line since Friday morning."

The stubborn shopper tried to take it back, but the robbers fired a warning again, this time hitting the victim in the leg. Non-threatening injuries were sustained and no arrests were made.

    She wasn't able to swim, but she was able to call cops from her cell phone. She and the car began to sink when Palm Beach County police came to her rescue and got her out of the canal. The car accident landed her in recovery, which a Target spokeswoman wished was "speedy."

    When turned away by employees, they began fighting inside. The Walmart staff was forced to call the police to remove customers from the premises, so that the staff would have tim time to close and prepare for the sale at 5 am.

    The customers were upset, and began banging on the front glass doors. Some got crafty and tried to sneak into the back entrance and the lawn and garden section. Throughout the entire night, there were chants of "let me in, let me in" and officers had to remain on the premises until 6:15 am.

    "It was scary," said one of the store managers trying to calm the crowd.

    A policeman was arrested on Black Friday in 2011. The Kinston police officer was off duty at the time, but that did not stop him from using pepper spray against several people in the chaotic crowd.

    The Kinston officer, Gordon Jackson, hired a lawyer after he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. YouTube videos were released of shoppers covering their faces, while the police department claimed to NBC News that they just fired "a single puff" and no one got sprayed in the face with the mace.

    The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Customers were safely evacuated from Macy's and one of the department store entrances blocked with police tape. The cause of the initial argument was unknown.

    While the forensics team investigated the incident, the two dozen shoppers in line continued to wait outside without further incident.
