  (#1) Target Shoppers Step Over Dying Man

  Walter Vance was shopping at a West Virginia Target store during Black Friday when he collapsed. The 61-year-old pharmacist had already been dealing with a heart condition, but the chaos of Black Friday did not help.

  When he fell to the ground, countless customers did absolutely nothing. In fact, they walked around him on their way to find bargains. Vance was brought to the hospital later, where he passed.

  (#2) Tennessee Transgender Woman Assaulted At Kohl's

  In Jackson, Tennessee, the day after Thanksgiving 2012 was intense for Akasha Adonis. The transgender woman and her mom were assaulted by other shoppers as soon as store personnel unlocked the doors to a Kohl's Department Store.

  Adonis and another woman were hit by an assailant who pulled out her hair. Most disgustingly, the suspect put his hand in her mouth and tore three teeth out of her head, breaking her jaw. As Adonis laid on the floor, Kohl's staff reportedly greeted other shoppers until a woman called the police.

  (#3) Bargain Shoppers Send 11-Year-Old To Hospital

  For some Black Friday shoppers, a bargain may be worth trampling an 11-year-old girl. In 2013, Black Friday at a New Boston Walmart became a nightmare shopping event thanks to out-of-control customers. Although HIPAA laws prohibit the release of the child's name, it was confirmed that an 11-year-old female was trampled at the scene. 

  The injuries landed her in the hospital, where she was transported and later released. Luckily, the police were quick to respond, as the first call of a trampled child at Walmart came in at 7:56 p.m., and they were on the scene by 8:01.

  It seems like the saga of the madness trying to just get into a store will never end. On Black Friday in 2005, the people who waited in lines for hours at a Florida BrandSmart instinctively formed a frenzied group mentality once the store opened and used the force of a hundred people to push themselves into the store en masse.

  In the rush, there was no mercy shown, not even towards senior citizens. One 73-year-old woman claims she was knocked down and stepped on again and again and there was nothing her daughter could do to help.

  Welcome to Muskegon, where every Black Friday the locals swarm stores in stampedes. Evidently, it doesn't matter who is in your way - even a teenage girl in a Walmart could fall victim to the shopping madness.

  On Black Friday 2011, a Walmart SuperCenter became a scene of minor injuries for just such a teenage girl. While there were rumors that she had been attacked, the truth was that she was knocked over by people rushing to an electronic department sale and then stepped on her repeatedly . She was taken to the hospital.

  This particular incident occurred at the same place where a Walmart worker was slain, making the 2008 shopping season a historical danger zone in that area.

  The eight-months-pregnant woman was most likely waiting to buy supplies for her baby-to-be. Instead, she reportedly miscarried. This incident stemmed from the same press of people that knocked the department store's doors off of their hinges.

  Palo Alto's saddest Black Friday came in 2013 when a man was held responsible for the loss of his two daughters.

  Forty-eight-year-old Arvind Tandel had spent all night with his wife and four daughters shopping for Black Friday fun. The four children were squeezed in a back seat fitted for three and the two whose lives were lost not wearing seatbelts.

  The family's Lexus SUV took a hit for the worse, as the dad was operating on only three hours of sleep. This heartbreaking family tragedy led to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter charges.

  (#8) Two Perished At Toys 'R' Us

  Southern California is known for being the land of the "chill," but that was far from the case in 2008, when a Southern California Black Friday event landed in intensely upsetting fatalities. 

  At a Toys 'R' Us in Palm Desert, families heard the horrifying sounds of shots being fired in the extremely crowded store. Two men were shooting at each other - whether it was over toys or personal matters remains unknown, as both men met their demise at each other's hands.

  (#9) California Walmart Becomes Scene Of A Shooting

  Just before 2 in the morning, Black Friday shoppers got into a fight in the parking lot of a Walmart near Oakland, California. The San Leandro customers were confronted by multiple suspects who wanted their items and, after they refused, one of them pulled out a gun.

  While one suspect fired, wounding one of the victims, the other suspect fled the scene. The suspect who was detained was in his mid-20s. The gunshot victim was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

  (#10) Police Officer Ends Up In Hospital After Walmart Brawl

  A Rialto Walmart brawl landed a police officer in medical care on Black Friday 2013. 

  Thanksgiving week took an odd turn when a total of three separate fights took place at the same Walmart in Rialto. When officers tried to break up one of those three fights, the two men brawling it out ended up breaking the officer's wrist. The injured officer was treated and released the same night, but one shopper said "This is my first Black Friday and my last."

  If you thought any Black Friday experience you had was beyond ridiculous, just consider yourself lucky no one perished. Sadly that is exactly what happened back in 2008 at a Long Island Walmart.

  First, few facts to convey the severity of this incident: over 2,000 people forced their way into the store five minutes before scheduled to open. The store never, in fact, oficially opened. The crowds opened the store themselves, while chanting "push the doors in." And that they did, knocking the doors off their hinges and effectively basting it apart.

  It was rumored that the employees all of sudden had to make a human chain to slow down the crowds that kept pouring. This did not work as the crowds ended up reating a lethal Red Rover situation and, in their rush, trampled a 34-year-old temporary employee.

  The crowds also knocked over the other Walmart employees who were trying to help the man, each step and push pummeling the downed man further. When police and paramedics arrived, people continued to push past them. When police were forced the store to close, people kept pushing past them. The excuse the over-eager shoppers gave was: "I was in line since Friday morning."

  (#12) Vegas Target Shopper Shot On Way Home

  A shopper was carrying a big screen TV that they had sucessfully purchased thanks to Black Friday week sales. At 9:45 pm, when the victim was carrying it to his apartment, someone fired warning shots.

  The incident, which took place near the University of Nevada, involved two robbers taking the television from the man. The stubborn shopper tried to take it back, but the robbers fired a warning again, this time hitting the victim in the leg. Non-threatening injuries were sustained and no arrests were made.

  Most of the time, when you hear about riots, stampedes or people perishing in crowds, it is a tragic occurance that happens during an important or political event, such as protesting denial of civil liberties. During the Friday after Thanksgiving, on the other hand, what it really takes to get folks riled up is 40% off of a DVD set.

  Laser-focused shoppers show no mercy. Back in 2005, and in Grand Rapids, Michigan , according to the video, shoppers trample and scuffled and pushed and knocked people down, including a pregnant woman. After her fall, most people just moved right on by and no tries to help her up. Later on, she is escorted to the hospital via ambulance.

  Welcome to the Porter Ranch Walmart in California, where you might get accosted with pepper spray on Black Friday.

  In 2011, the Los Angeles Police Department went on a hunt for a woman who took Black Friday to the extreme. In order to beat the crowd and get more merchandise, an unknown woman used pepper spray on over 20 shoppers.

  A hundred people were waiting in line to snag Wii and Xbox consoles - pushing and shoving as has become tradition - when all of a sudden, pepper spray was in the air. Customers coughed and itched as the woman practiced what the LA Fire Captain called "Competitive shopping."

  (#15) Exhausted Worker Loses Control Of Car

  In 2011, Black Friday had a bitter moment when a Target employee drover her car into a 20-foot-deep canal. The woman, who was 36 and had just come back from working the night shift, lost control of her car because she was so exhausted.

  She wasn't able to swim, but she was able to call cops from her cell phone. She and the car began to sink when Palm Beach County police came to her rescue and got her out of the canal. The car accident landed her in recovery, which a Target spokeswoman wished was "speedy."

  In Reno, Nevada, a road rage incident turned deadly in 2016 when a shopper was shot during a dispute in a Walmart parking lot. Although originally it had been suspected that the incident was due to an argument about a parking spot, the origin was later clarified when witness interviews claimed it was due to one driver accidentally cutting the other off.

  The slain driver had gone after the driver of the vehicle that accidentally cut him off by breaking a car window and hitting him in the face with a metal baton. In defense, the other driver grabbed his weapon and fired through the broken window. No charges were anticipated against the shooter.

  (#17) Man Stabbed At Carlsbad Mall

  A Carlsbad mall was the scene of terror on Black Friday 2013. Javier Covarrubias, an 18 year old, was outside the entrance of a mall when he stabbed another man in the stomach.

  Covarrubias reportedly fled the scene with another suspect, heading toward the movie theater, and was arrested while his companion was not. He was detained for assault with a deadly weapon while the victim was sent to the hospital and underwent surgery for his injuries.

  In 2016, a crowd gathered for a sneaker sale outside an Adidas store in Vancouver, Canada, were only hoping for a chance to win a rare athletic shoe. They got more than they'd queued up for when a shirtless man becan running around the packed crowd, swinging his belt as a whip.

  His actions inspired more violence and the shoe event was closed, with the special sneakers raffled off the following Saturday.

  (#19) Customers Kicked Out Of Walmart

  As a precaution to avoid the tragic 2008 demise of a customer, a Walmart store in Upland, California, decided to remain open all night to avoid lines and door-rushing. Despite this, customers began tearing into the shrink-wrapped products that were meant to be open and distributed for sale at 5 am.

  When turned away by employees, they began fighting inside. The Walmart staff was forced to call the police to remove customers from the premises, so that the staff would have tim time to close and prepare for the sale at 5 am.

  The customers were upset, and began banging on the front glass doors. Some got crafty and tried to sneak into the back entrance and the lawn and garden section. Throughout the entire night, there were chants of "let me in, let me in" and officers had to remain on the premises until 6:15 am.

  "It was scary," said one of the store managers trying to calm the crowd.

  (#20) Off-Duty Police Officer Pepper Sprays Shoppers

  A policeman was arrested on Black Friday in 2011. The Kinston police officer was off duty at the time, but that did not stop him from using pepper spray against several people in the chaotic crowd.

  The Kinston officer, Gordon Jackson, hired a lawyer after he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. YouTube videos were released of shoppers covering their faces, while the police department claimed to NBC News that they just fired "a single puff" and no one got sprayed in the face with the mace.

  An altercation at a Kmart in 2017 began with shoving and ended with an employee shoved into a display, causing him to fall and reportedly shatter his hip. Widely shared across social media, the incident was seperated from any local context and it is unknown where the Kmart in question is located or what sparked the initial argument before it escalated to blows.

  (#22) Two Injured After Stabbings In Syracruse Mall

  In what a mall spokesperson is calling an "isolated incident." two people were sent to the hopsital after a 2018 altercation that began in a Macy's at Destiny USA in Syracuse, New York. Both men injured were also suspects and were found at the Pacsun following their initial confrontation at Macy's.

  The injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. Customers were safely evacuated from Macy's and one of the department store entrances blocked with police tape. The cause of the initial argument was unknown.

  (#23) Off-Duty Policeman Attacked In Leeds

  After confronting a suspected shoplifter, an off-duty Leeds policeman was slashed in the neck, face and hand shortly after an HMV store had opened for Black Friday sales. The suspect was detained by store staff and then arrested. The injured officer was treated in the hospital and later discharged.

  While the forensics team investigated the incident, the two dozen shoppers in line continued to wait outside without further incident.

  The Black Friday madness continues to spread across the world, resulting in a 2016 incident at a mall in Durban, South Africa. A woman was injured in a stamped at the Pavilion Shopping Centre, as crowds pushed their way to sales.

  The woman's shoulder was treated by paramedics as she continued shopping.

  A 29-year-old shopper was arrested on Black Friday after attacking an officer at a Walmart. Richard Ramos, the Newark man, was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. Not a bad resume for a Thanksgiving sale, as Ramos was bickering with a Walmart store manager about a TV.

  Refusing to be subdued by store security, Ramos grabbed an officer by the shirt when he pepper sprayed him.

  The terror of Black Friday continues to reach overseas as a series of incidents at Tesco shops in 2014 brought police to the scene. Greater Manchester police arrived at several of the UK supermarkets to control the crowds and make several arrests, expressing their disappointment in store security.

  A number of incidents at these stores and other locations included shoppers refusing to leave, a woman breaking her wrist in the press of people, and a woman suffering minor injuries after being struck by a falling television.

  (#27) Brawl At Tustin Kohl's Injures Two

  Three women were arrested after a fight begun at a Khol's store in Tustin, California . According to witnesses, five people became engaged in a brawl for unknown reasons shortly after 1 am, resulting in two of the women being injured. The three women who were brought in were the instigators of the incident, according to Kohl's employees.

  The two injured women, who sustained facial lacerations, were examined on the scene. One was released and the other was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

  A mall in Hoover, Alabama, closed a half-hour early on Thanksgiving night, 2017, after an altercation that began in a Buckle store and ended in chaos. Both police officials and the mall spokesperson reassured shoppers that any reports of gunfire were incorrect, the fights were purely hand to hand and reportedly had nothing to do with shopping or sales,

  Asda stores across Northern Island saw some sad ramifications for their Black Friday promotions. 

  Stampedes were reported, along with people wrestling over merchandise, and ultimately a woman was taken to the hospital. While Asda company representatives said the reaction to the Black Friday promotion was "phenomenal," that is not exactly how it would be characterized by a woman in West Belfast. Her broken wrist begged to differ with Asda, which had upped their security to ensure this kind of chaos did not occur during the sale.
