  Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Cersei (Lena Headey) are brother and sister, which should be enough for them to decouple for good. But he has grown as a person, perhaps more than any other character on HBO's Game of Thrones. And he's clearly headed away from the Lannister darkness.

  Meanwhile, Cersei remains ice-cold and evil, with no personal goal other than to sit on the Iron Throne.

  Marge Simpson is almost the perfect wife and mother. She puts a lot of time and effort into raising her three kids and endures an endless barrage of nonsense from her husband, Homer. Yes, Homer is sweet and his heart is always in the right place, but he's still an alcoholic buffoon who makes really bad decisions (see every episode ever).

  Plus, Homer would rather spend his free time hanging out at Moe's Bar than with his wife and kids.

  Somehow, Jackie (Mila Kunis) winds up mismatched with Fez (Wilmer Valderrama) at the end of That '70s Show. This pairing occurs after multiple seasons of watching Jackie's on-again, off-again relationship with Kelso (Ashton Kutcher).

  It's a wonder that the writers couldn't get those two perfectly matched lovebirds to live happily ever after. The sitcom might have gotten it wrong, but at least Kunis and Kutcher wound up together in real life.

  Were Rachel and Ross really "on a break" when he hooked up with the copy girl? Wasn't Ross just a nerdy, needy, insecure guy who became unbearably jealous of Rachel's success once her career finally took off?

  For nine seasons, fans of How I Met Your Mother waited to find out the identity of the sitcom's titular mother. In the end, the payoff was a bit of a rip-off. The mother dies, and Ted (Josh Radnor) winds up with his best friend Barney's (Neil Patrick Harris) ex-wife, Robin (Cobie Smulders).

  Robin and Barney seem more like the couple that would last, though. Ted comes across as a bit of a whiner and not tough enough to handle a successful, no-nonsense person like Robin.

  Rory (Alexis Bledel) spends a lot of time toying with Jess's (Milo Ventimiglia) emotions. Even when she's dating Dean (Jared Padalecki), she kisses Jess, then tries to pretend like nothing happened. Jess is not the best communicator when it comes to feelings, and he's built a wall to hide his emotions. Rory, though, is selfish and consistently fails to be a good friend to the people she's supposed to love.

  Rory's most selfish act comes when she goes to Philadelphia on an important night for Jess's writing career and kisses him just because she wants to get revenge on her boyfriend, Logan (Matt Czuchry), who had cheated on her.

  Ryan (Ben McKenzie) manages to move away from his troubled past and start fresh in Orange County. Marissa (Mischa Barton) sets her eyes on the new guy and becomes involved with him mostly because her mother, Julie (Melinda Clarke), does not approve.

  Julie sees Ryan as trouble because she doesn't realize her daughter is actually the bad news. Ryan falls head over heels for Marissa, despite her intentions not being true.

  Carmela (Edie Falco) lives a life of privilege thanks to husband Tony's (James Gandolfini) work as a mob boss. But she has to put up with a lot of nonsense in their marriage. Tony has an undeniable sweet side. But he's also a serial adulterer who constantly lies to his wife and ignores the needs of his children.

  Tony's temper could flare at any moment, and though he never physically hurts her, he is known to berate and verbally take his anger out on Carmela.

  Aria (Lucy Hale) is indeed a pretty little liar. But in her relationship with Ezra (Ian Harding), he holds back the biggest lie - that he initially showed interest in her to help write his book. First and foremost, though, Ezra is Aria's high school English teacher. Even though the two met at a bar under false pretenses, once Aria walked into his classroom on the first day of school and Ezra saw she was a high school student, he should have ended their affair for good.

  We later learn Ezra used Aria to get information for his book on Alison's disappearance, so he's not to be trusted. After a hiatus, they become a couple again, and the series keeps the romance alive. But even when Aria is no longer underage, it's still a relationship initially built on Ezra's selfish lies and creepiness.

  High school student Justin (Randy Harrison) is only 17 years old when he meets Brian (Gale Harold) in Showtime's drama Queer as Folk. Brian looks like a Roman god, but he's nearly 30 years old. The two embark on a sexual relationship where Brian teaches Justin everything he needs to know about the bedroom.

  Justin, of course, falls in love, while Brian continues his normal life of sleeping with anyone he finds attractive. Justin and Brian do establish some form of a relationship, but Justin is never really able to maintain equal footing. As a young man, Justin would benefit from being with someone closer to his age and who treats him better.

  Archie (KJ Apa) is a bit of an emotional mess who displays streaks of violence. He also has a confidence problem that ultimately leads him to make poor decisions. Veronica (Camila Mendes) needs someone with more tenacity who can handle themselves amid all the family drama that surrounds the Lodges.

  While Veronica lives with a past of being a bully, especially to other girls, she has seen the error of her ways and taken strides to make herself a better person.

  Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) is swept off her feet the second she meets Mr. Big (Chris Noth). Given the opportunity, she probably would have married him after their first date. But Big isn't interested in an exclusive relationship and toys with Carrie's emotions. The pair eventually calls it quits. Then, Big gets married to someone else.

  Carrie never stops pining for Big, and even when she has Aidan (John Corbett), the fashionista falls into the arms of the married millionaire. Eventually, Big and Carrie tie the knot after years of him treating Carrie like a woman he lusted after but never loved.

  There are obviously romantic sparks on Homeland when Carrie (Claire Danes) first meets Brody (Damian Lewis) after the USMC Sergeant has been an al-Qaeda prisoner of war for eight years. She's a CIA agent, and he's an emotionally and physically scarred married man with children.

  The series' central narrative focuses on speculation that Brody sympathized with his captors while imprisoned. Yet despite not trusting him (for good reason), Carrie falls in love with Brody, who manipulates her fragile mental and emotional state.

  Bette (Jennifer Beals) and Tina (Laurel Holloman) appear to be the gold standard of couples on Showtime's The L Word. Upon closer examination, though, the pair is far from perfect. Tina has an affair with Henry (Steven Eckholdt) and clearly doesn't want to remain exclusive. Of course, both Bette and Tina fight dirty and aim to hurt the other with any verbal abuse they can muster.

  The series may have ended with these two together, but it's hard to imagine they would last in the long run.

  Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco) end up getting married in Las Vegas during Season 9 of The Big Bang Theory. But does Penny really deserve the brilliant Leonard? The experimental physicist is much more social than his crew of brainiac pals. He's also set up to become extremely successful in life.

  It doesn't seem like Penny truly appreciates Leonard, though, and she often comes across as self-absorbed. Leonard deserves someone who meets his intellectual needs and will treat him as an equal.

  When Jim decides to take a job in Philly, you'd think Pam would be the first person to know. But instead, she finds out from a colleague. There's also some compelling evidence that Jim cheated on Pam.
